Directv satellite dish conversion/compatibility

Two questions.

I have a Winegard sk-3005 satellite dish. It is set up for Directv. It has 4 leads (2 sets of 2) to operate 2 dual tuner receivers.

I can use Directv's HR24 DVR/Receivers. I understand I cannot use an SWM receiver without some modification to the antenna and/or the antenna connections. Is this correct?

If modified, will the antenna be compatible with Genie or HR25 receivers? I believe these two are SWM types.

Secondly, will I need a B Band Converter if I don't modify the antenna to adapt to SWM in order to use the HR24?

You guys are so smart.

If it was early enough, I would have contacted Winegard.

I too have the same sk-3005 dish. You can operate two HR24 receivers with two inputs to each of the receivers. You will need a B band converter for each of the inputs. You can operate the new Genie receivers or the HR24's without the B band converters if you get a SWM inserter with the a multi switch. B band converters can be found on EBay at a good price. The Wineguard web site has the wiring diagrams if you want to go with the SWM inserter.
