Novice looking for help. I just got a 2007 Phaeton with a Wineguard " RoadTrip SDi - In Motion Satellite system. I purchased a Dish VIP-211k receiver and had a tech switch the dip switches on the dome from DTV to Dish setting. Testing the system the dome picks up satellites 110 and 119 but doesn't pick up 129. I signed up for a pay as you go "HD" package with locals so I need 129. Does anyone have any ideas on trouble shooting my problem? Am I correct in assuming my wineguard dome along with the VIP 211k are capable of locking on to 129?? HELP!!!!

Have you run " check switch " on the receiver. If not, on your remote go to :
Menu
opt 6
opt 1
opt 1
highlight the check switch function and press select. highlight the test function and run the test. At the end of the test you will get a message about fewer satellites found just select cancel to get rid of it.
You should then see a screen showing the three satellites found 110, 119, and 129 with the notation of switch type SW64. If this doesn't happen run check switch again. You may have to run check switch three or four times. If after five attempts and no luck have the dip switch settings checked and verified they are set for DISH 1000 and not DISH 500.

lllkrob, I did the test and the result was 110, 119 and SW42. Is the SW 42 telling us something?

Pilot,
When you said the Tech switched the "Dip Switches". Were those switches
under the InMotion dish or were they inside the coach with the controller? Reason I'm asking is that I currently have DTV and thinking of changing to Dish and not all the Techie's have the same amount of training or experience. So, if he runs into a problem, I can give him or her a suggestion. Thanks

If you ran the test several times and got the same thing each time then your antenna dip switches are set incorrectly. The switches need to be set for a DISH 1000 system. The tech just set them for the standard DISH 500 system. I think your problem will be corrected when the switches get set correctly and you run check switch again.
Check your antenna and determine if it has the attached switch configeration: http://www.winegard.com/kbase/upload/2452164.pdf
If you are still having issues it's time to contact Winegard.

Just noticed on wineguard site the following :
Starting in 2009, all RoadTrip antennas are equipped with the ability to toggle between 3 DISH Network satellites.
Your 2007 may not be compatable with 129
I would phone wineguard and check
FWIW

lllkrob, maybe Don has a point, my 2007 RoadTrip may only be compatable with 110, 119. My operational manual only mentions 110, 119 and SW42 switch. Did 129 exist in 2007? I guess I could call Wineguard and ask them if it is able to track 129. Thanks

Winegard has excellent technical support. You may have to leave a message, and they will call you back in an hour or two. They have the answers to your question. Be sure to have your information available, like model # of your satellite, s/n, etc (if you can easily get it).

Did a little more research and he is correct. There is a upgrade for pre-2009 units.
RoadTrip RT12HDS / RT12HDT - DISH Network HD upgrade Kit allows you to receiver HD porgramming located on satellite 129. Designed for pre-2009 models only (RT12HDS for stationary units / RT12HDT for in-motion units).
This kit can be ordered from Winegard.

Thanks lllkrob, that upgrade sounds like what I need. I really appreciate you taking your time to give me all your expert knowledge and experience. Without help from you and others I would be lost. This forum is such a great help, maybe some day, after more experience, I might be able to offer somebody help. Thanks again for everybody's help.
