Dish and Roadtrip dish
New subscriber to Dish TV at the house. Had the installer leave me two boxes for my rv and my buddies. I changed the dip switches on mine and got to work with minimal frustration.
My buddies rv on the other hand we've had no success. In fact we've waved the white flag. Anyone know a place we could take the rv or a mobile person to get it to work. He has an 08 rv with a road trip I motion dish. I called Winegard and they claim it and the Dish reciever we have are compatible.

Since the dome may be older than 2013 it may not work with the changes Dish made to their encoding this year. I had to replace my dome as it would no longer locate the satellites automatically. Not sure which receiver you have but would call Winegard with specifics about the dome as it may be the real problem. Winegard will also offer discounts to upgrade the equipment.

With the Winegard in motion antennas, there is a two step procedure you must do to lock in satellites. First, run the check switch routine in the receiver without the antenna hooked up to clear out any previous settings. After that, hook up the antenna coax with the receiver powered on, but don't do the check switch yet.Turn on the antenna and let it lock in on the satellites. It takes a total of about 10-12 minutes for it to complete the routine. You'll think it will never quit grinding, but it will. Once it completely stops, then do the check switch again on the receiver.
One thing I almost forgot. You did take the top off of the antenna and make sure the dip switches are set for DISH network, didn't you? It may be defaulted for DirecTV.

Changed the dip switches, and I got mine to work by disconnecting the sat cable. Didn't work on his, not sure we waited 10 minutes though, it had quit making noise.

I would call Dish Outdoors. Satellite specialist for RV's....a "sister company to Dishnetwork but they know more about rv satellites than Dish does. I found out that my 722 receiver which is a DVR is in no way compatible with the road trip mission in motion dome.

It will sort of stop after about 4-5 minutes, then it starts the last part of the routine. That can take another 6 minutes or so. The last part of the seek routine is for the in-motion use, which don't use. That was the problem I had when I first got my new rig with the in-motion RoadTrip, I wasn't giving it long enough to totally finish its routine. My old stationary dome would lock in after 3-4 minutes and be done.
