Concur with Ken...the booklet on my ViP-211K said the external hard drives can be over 1TB. The catch here is the EXTERNAL POWER...it CAN'T work with power from the USB wire.
The Dish website tells about a one time fee to enable the recording functions on the receiver...yes - that's a call to Dish to enable it and get and billed for the functions
And as I read the manual, the ViP-211k is the component that does the controlling for recording (DVR) functions. Haven't bought a hard-drive yet, but it sounds just like having a TiVo for the RV at only a fraction of the cost.
