So I guess no portable antennas on tripods.

Fantastic concept, just got off the phone with support.
Only works with Wally due to software issues. We are not willing to downgrade from our Hopper 3 w/ Sling with Joeys so we will wait and check back in a few months as support agent advised.

Having used Dish DNS from 2006 until the end from Dish and with All American Direct DNS, no photo of the permanently attached dish was ever requested.

Using a tripod won't get you in trouble, using it in a house will.

Now to using DNS. In the beginning there was a benefit to DNS because, at the time, you got NY and LA channels and I used the 3 hour time shift to be able to record more than three broadcast programs in the same time slot.

The new DNS offering from Dish is only from LA and in HD. The previous DNS from Dish was only SD. So now DNS is HD but in the East, prime time will be 11 PM - 1 AM, not very convenient.

Having gotten the procedure down for changing Service Addresses down to just a couple of minutes using Chat, I no longer see the benefit of DNS.

Yes, it says perm attached. It also states not a fixed dwelling. To me it's pretty clear the intent, and that a portable antenna used with an RV would be ok. Imho.

More importantly, who's going to know, certainly not Dish.

If it works for you, just get it and use it, even at your house if you want, the Dish police aren't very effective and it is a receiver only and they have no way to know where you are or what you have the antenna on.

Everything in life is not really that hard

I like using the Chat online service. I rather get the true local channels and not just the Prime Networks: NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox.

Just uploaded my documents for DNS. Am supposed to be updated by emails as it progresses.

Don't know the channel numbers that will be used, but was told it comes on sat. 119.

What senarios would one want this?

I use chat to change service address to wherever I am so as to get the local stations where I am. Local weather, traffic, etc.

I'm not certain.

1. No PBS
2. Only west coast feed
3. Works only with Wally

I'm not sure what value it has in it's current form as you're better off just using OTA or calling to update your location.

As to Dish wanting to be sure that no one uses the service at a fixed location... it's so limited, why would they?

There was nothing that said a Wally was the only qualified receiver.

There is a CONUS PBS channel for n extra $1.50 a month.

LA only is the real problem That would be 11 PM - 1 AM in the East.
