Dish LNBF Hookup Question
A question for you Satellite Gurus out there.
I have a VP211K Dish Network receiver that I keep in the MH. The problem is that if it goes for a few weeks without connection while in storage, it goes inactive and shows no access. It usually takes a 20-30 minute call and three or four re-boots to get it to work.
My question is it possible to hook the 211 to my 1000.2 LNBF at my S&B so it will remain active? There are three output coax connections on the LNBF and one input. Two of the outputs are being used by my Hopper setup. Can the 211 be connected to the third output on the LNBF and will it cause problems with the Hopper system? I have a Winegard Carryout portable dish but I really don't want to leave it hooked up all the time at home.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm not a Dish subscriber so I'll leave the answer to your connection question to others. But surely Dish has the same thing that DirecTV does which is an online "button" on my account that I can click and force a "re-activation" signal to be sent to my receivers. Before we were fulltime, when this problem would occur I'd just go to My Account on the DirecTV website and click on that button and a minute or two later the receiver would be working fine. I can't believe Dish doesn't have an equivalent process to avoid the phone call.

You would think so, but they don't.
I have mine hooked to a 500 dish when at home for that same reason, I set it to auto tune the news to keep it active.

Yes, you can just hook up the third output off the antenna to the 211. It should have no effect on the Hopper and will keep the 211 active.

Yup, sure wish dish would provide a automated deactivation. It's a huge aggravation and waste of time for both the customer and Dish. You have to call and hope you get a someone who knows what you are talking about. If I get someone who is without clue and wants to go through their canned troubleshooting script, I hang up and call back until I get someone with a clue.
