Dish monthly fees for 2nd Hopper 3
I am thinking about purchasing a 2nd Hopper 3 for the motorhome. I am told that they charge a $7.00 monthly fee. Is this true?

That is the charge for a Joey. I don't they will let you have a second Hopper when you are using the Hopper 3.

I think it's $15, same as your #1 Hopper 3.

You can, but I believe you have to buy that 2nd Hopper 3. See Satelliteguys thread.

I talked with Dish earlier this week and they said they recently changed their policy and will allow a second (purchased only) Hopper3 on the same account, but charge $7.00 per month to allow it. The reason I floated this question out to the forum was because so many times the answer you get is different each time you talk to them. It would be nice to gain some consensus on this issue.
Thx,
Tom

Thanks Tom. I will talk to them again. Mine is a Hopper w/Sling, but hopefully they would allow that also.

I had three Hopper 2's (ie, Hopper with Sling) in my RV at one time. DISH leased me two, but I had to buy one.
Like I said before, you can have two Hopper 3s on one account, but you can mix a Hopper 3 with a Hopper 2.

Since the Hopper 3 has 16 tuners and a 2 Terabyte Hard Drive that stores 500 hours of HD programming guess I don't know why a Hopper 3 and a Joey would not be enough in a RV when people that want to watch different shows on two TVs. All recordings would be available from both TVs. Plus isn't it cheaper? Hopper + Joey = $ 22 per month for receiver fees.
That said, I have never done the experiment to so see how many of the 16 tuners you can really use before the Hopper 3 dogs out. I took it up to recording 7 things and watching an 8th thing for fun once, and that worked OK.

It's good to have a "backup" Hopper. If you only have a single Hopper and it fails, you're SOL.

So, for the most part, when it comes to recording on your Hoppers, are you mirroring two of them so you don’t miss out on any favorite program episodes? You must keep your RV plugged in when you’re not traveling in it to keep the Hoppers powered up??

If I had two Hoppers, that's what I'd probably do.

We are full timers, but we stay in a park model in Winter so we just pull our DISH equipment out of our RV and set it up in the park model.
