Dish Network dropping A&E Channels.

Has anyone seen the "breaking news" on the dish program guide? Seems that the A&E channels will be dropped from their lineup. No specifics were offered, and going to site tells you nothing.

NO! I don't like this one bit, our monthly bill has gone up from 39.99 to over 100 in the last fifteen years.

probably the usual BS when it comes time for the content provider to renew the contract with dish. Dish demanding more from A&E to carry their channels. Next thing Dish will do is fire up a channel with a bunch of anti-A&E propaganda.

This happens all the time with cable and satellite providers. The network wants more money for their channels, and the cable/satellite providers don't want to pay so they threaten to drop the channels. They eventually reach an agreement, and the cable/satellite company passes the increase on the the customer.

You've got the that backwards. It's the content providers that keep jacking up the rates they want the satellite and cable companies to pay.

My theory: By giving the network (A&E or whomever) more viewers the Sat Providers are providing THEM with a service. Now if Subscription TV (Sat and cable) delivered on the promise of commercial free TV.. I'd not feel this way but since they still run commercials.. I have always felt, and always will feel, that the networks should be paying the sat providers. enough that we the people would not have to pay them.

But alas, that's not how it works.

It was on the channel guide for A&E and History channel. It was about 5 pm, titled "Breaking News". I pushed the info button and the description said that the A&E channels would be dropped. You were then directed to a website that didn't really explain anything.

JudyH; We have Dish too and 15 years ago we were paying around $54 for ours and now it's $87 part of the increase was due to adding the RV to it, but also and upgrade in receiver to a DVR and maint plan. The only way yours could have increased as much as you say was a big upgrade in your programing/equipment.

i am cheap my dish bill is under 55 each month
no HD

A&E channels going by by would only screw me up fr the history channel, the rest is to "out of my age bracket" to be missed
i wish we could ala cart the never ending array of shopping channels and music tv channels they give us for free?

Call your Congressman and demand they get rid of the Cable Bill of 1992 that allowed them to bundle.
With 2014 digital technology they can easily go back to ala carte.

Go to Denny's and order 2 eggs with a side order of toast and a side order of bacon
I don't want channel 6 8 12 16 19 21 and 36. I only want 12 and 19.
Could cost more. Look what they charge for HBO ect.
