DISH network Eastern Arc
The standard sats for Dish are 110, 119, and 129. When your view to the southwest for these Sats is blocked does anyone reprogram their Winegard Dome for the Eastern Arc Sats, 61, 72, and 77 if you have a clear view to the southeast?

My Winegard Roadtrip dome is set up for DISH eastern arc. If they are blocked I get out the Winegard Pathway X2 which can operate on either Eastern or Western Arcs.

If the antenna is not designed for eastern arc then you will probably not be able to capture all three eastern arc satellites at once, but the antenna can usually be manually commanded to a single eastern arc bird. I'm not sure about the Dome but the Trav'ler can be manually aimed at 61 or 72. I find 61 the most useful as it carries locals in HD and the rest of the channels in SD, but if you don't care about locals then 72 carries the standard channels in HD. There isn't much of any interest to me on 77.
It takes some fiddling with the control unit so you'd probably only want to use an eastern arc satellite if you had no other option, but check your manual as the capability may be there.

Smiller,
I have the SK-1000 Trav'ler. In the Operation Manual there is no info on setting up for Eastern Arc sats. Can you point us to info on setting up manually for 61 or 72 sats?
How easy is it to put back in auto mode for the standard western arc sats?
Thx,
Bill

I drove my MH from California to Florida and up the East Coast to Maine and never had a problem with my Dish Travler set for the Western arc satellites. I asked Winegard about the Eastern arc before I left home and they said don't worry about it. Was I just lucky or is there a reason to switch arcs?

I traveled from SoCal to Key West to Bar Harbor and then across Maine to Montreal. But I was using a Dish 1000-2 sitting on the ground . Up in New England I just couldn't get Sat 129 since it's about 12-14 deg up off the horizon. One time I did put it on the roof but that's not safe as my wife nearly launched off the ladder as I was handing it down to her.
At the GNR I noticed all the Winegard Trav'lers and was going to buy one there but they wanted $350 for install. I bought one from Adventure RV for a very good price and installed it myself....not difficult at all. Works like champ, even in the array of very tall palm trees here in Palm Desert, CA
That extra 12 ft up from the ground makes a lot easier to clear the trees and other rv's.
Thanks TechWriter, I just blew past it on page 3.

UFO Pilot; My reason for asking is that sometimes trees are blocking my view of the western arc sats. but I have a clear view to where the eastern arc sats are. I was wonder if any switched their Winegard dome between the 2 as needed due to blocked southwest views.

Also remember that if you manually point your antenna at an eastern arc satellite then you will also likely need to run the 'check switches' routine on the setup/pointing menu on your receiver.

Before any of you waste too much time, the Winegard Travler WILL NOT lock onto the 72 site manually even though the manual says it will.

It's true that the Trav'ler will not properly auto-lock on 72 due to the proximity of 77, but you can use 72 with a Trav'ler by following the procedure below:
