How do you get the set for the rv? Every time I call dish they try to send me to radio shack to buy a box. I go to radio shack and am told they don't have any in stock and dish will supply the box for the extra five dollars a month. I just called again and this time was told they would come out and install it? When I said I didn't need an installation , it was for the rv , I got the "go to radio shack and buy a box" again?

Has anyone gone through this runaround?

We'll be interested in any replies to this as well.
We were going to get DISH NOW last Summer but that plan was cancelled by DISH. We were going to get DISH FLEX last Fall but that plan was cancelled by DISH.
Our local Radio Shack says that they can't get DISH receivers anymore.
It is certainly a run-around. Makes me wonder what the DISH Customer Service is like after you sign up - when they give you such a hassle about even signing up.

Look in the yellow pages for a dealer. I bought a 211 reciever for 200 bucks from a business that sold and installed dish and direct. We installed the reciever , then called dn to turn it on, and add it to our account. Hope this helps you. kwy

You can buy any series Dish Network receiver on ebay. After taking delivery, hook it up where you want it then call Dish for programming. You will need serial number or receiver number, model number etc...

Unless some one is using it, take the one out of the house and put it in the RV. Works the same.

I asked for another box the two times before this last time and was told to run a wire off my existing box by dish. This last operator at dish I called today said they could install a box like i have.

They told me I had to leave my current box connected to the phone line. If I have them install another will I have to connect to a phone line every now and then?

But I don't have DISH at home. And I don't want DISH at home.
What do full-timers do that don't have any other home?
Would love to hear from the Satellite Guy that frequents these forums.

Pure bull gravy about keeping it hooked up to a phone line. That is for ordering movies.

I've had Dishnetwork since 1999 and have been a full timer since 2001 and have never ever had my receiver connected to a phone line. Last year I did check into getting a new receiver since this one is quite old, one of the first dvrs that came out, and was told because I am in an RV I have to buy the receiver. They told me to go to a dealer to purchase one then call when ready to activate it.

I haven't done that yet because right after that I saw they were coming out with a new receiver so I thought I would wait for it but it still hasn't hit the market. Late spring I hear now.

I suggest quit trying to work through Dish Network (or DirecTV, for that matter) and find a satellite DEALER...particularly one who is familiar with RV installation. If you already have Dish Network in your house, as others have said, simply take one box out of your house and put it in the RV.

We first started fulltiming back in 1998, and during those years have had both Dish Network and DirecTV (currently DirecTV customers). Never have we had any of our receivers hooked to a phone line. And we also never dealt directly with either company to get equipment...we always found a satellite dealer (if you're in Quartzsite, see Satellite Advantage).

Thank you for the replies, I called them and they are leasing me a regular box for 5 a month on the current contract. The last operator said I could have the dvr for the 5 dollars but this rep wouldn't give me a dvr like I have claiming that would be 10 bucks a month.
So for 120 for two years it will be cheaper than buying a box outright. They have to come install it they said ...

Dish Network charges and extra $5/month for any receiver that is not connected to a phone line.
