The old Direct TV internet service was the origial Hughes NET (Dirctway) and once you were assigned a bird and transponder you could hit it from nearly anywhere.

The original Dish service,and later Direct as well..Was Wild Blue..they did not make it but Excide bought what was left (Some Excide antennas still say Wild Blue on them).

And now Hughes has "Gen-4"

Both of these high speed services are fantastic,, ENough bandwith (if you pay for it) To run multiple SKYPE Video streams

For more Google: HAM NATION
And pick any episode with triple digits and Bob Heil in it..Most of his contribution is via SKYPE and Excide.

However Both Gen-4 and Excide use spot beams... Not good for RVers.
