Dish Outdoor Tech Support

"You need to start your motorhome and move it so it points to the sattelite."

That's a direct quote of the instructions we received from a Dish Outdoor Technician. We have a Winegard Road Trip Mission sattelite dome on our new (to us) 2015 Tiffin 36LA. We've been trying for over a week to get it and our new Wally to bring in sattelite programming. Last night we sat in an open unobstructed parking lot for two and a half hours which culminated with this bright fellow's instructions. Just hung up and went home. DIP's are set for Dish but the dish will search for signal for hours on end when it's powered up. I guess our next move is to find a Winegard dealer and have them take a look at the unit to see if it's functional.

Open to suggestions.

a couple of thoughts

- have you tried removing power (not just shutting everything off) from the antenna, receiver, etc.? if you can do that for 5-10 minutes and then restore power and give it a try. best way is to unplug but throwing circuit breakers can also work.

- are you sure your dome is set for DISH network and not DirecTV?

Have removed power to the Wally by unpluging the power cord from the receiver and waiting but have only turned off the power to the sattelite dish using the switch inside the coach. I'm not sure what the circuit breakers would do that the switch won't.

well, on the few occasions where I've had an issue with our DISH receiver the first thing suggested by tech support is to unplug it from the wall...which you've done. I'm just applying that suggestion to the dome itself...couldn't hurt. beyond that you probably do need a pro to actually look at the system.

DISH CSRs don't know anything about Winegard products. If anything, contact Winegard.

However, you may be SOL. Compare these two Winegard "compatibility" charts:

2016 Chart -- notice the "Compatible Receivers" for the RoadTrip Mission models.

Current Chart -- while the RoadTrip T4 and some other models are now Wally compatible, the RoadTrip Missions have all been removed from the chart.

What shows on the TV screen while the antenna is hunting for the satellites?

How old is your Wally receiver? Most older Wally units did not have the latest firmware installed and need to be updated. This can best be done by connecting them to a open face dish and allowing the Wally update itself. This is best done at a local DISH Network retailer in your area.

Since this unit has never worked for you the first thing to do is to double check the dip switch settings and make sure they are set correctly.

If they are correct. then connect a long run of coax to the antenna in place of the coach's coax, and run it directly to the receiver.
