Dish Receiver compatible with Mod Sine Wave?
I'm planning to install an inverter and just looking for confirmation that the DISH receiver will operate OK using a MSW inverter. The first DISH "tech support" person had no idea what I was talking about. I got a supervisor and he said that he knew of no problems using MSW, but that wasn't quite the definitive reassurance I was hoping for.
He didn't know who manufactures their receiver, so I couldn't ask them either. I'm sure there are plenty of folks here who are running Dish on their inverters. Can someone confirm that we're OK with a MSW inverter?
Thanks

I've used my same Dish receiver in three MHs. Two have had the full sine wave inverter. My oldest MH was an 02 Monaco and I'm sure it had a MSW Inverter. I think you are fine.

One caution:
First: I used a DISH network receiver long time ago with a UPS that was MSW, and had no problem,, So based on that "Should work" applies.
Second: I have heard of forum members either here or elsewhere who had a problem loosing lock on the satellites when using MSW. Also on OTA digital TV when using MSW.
Seems that SOME, and I stress SOME MSW inverters mess up the digital decoders. Only some, not all and I have only heard of one or two such cases.
NOTE: no damage to the receivers in those cases, just no operation on MSW.
Electric blankets, 120 volt LED night lights, and several other devices are not so MSW friendly.. (One of thoe devices at least is reported to have caught fire) I do know what the designers did wrong when they designed them.. but that is their problem.
(It is a common trick to power a low voltage device off 120vac.. and it works with TSW inverters and shore/generator power.. Just not with MSW)

I've used my Dimensions 2000 msw inverter with my Dish 722 DVR for about 6-7 yrs with no drop out or any other adverse conditions. I do keep the dvr off while traveling so the hard drive doesn't crash. Had that happen about 10 yrs ago ... kept getting more and more weird problems and lockup's til
I replaced the unit and never drive powered up.
Happy Trails,
Bill
