Launches with Winnebago Industries
Pace Introduces Pay-As-You-Go Satellite TV for RV's
Rochester, Minn. - Pace International, a national authorized distributor for DISH Network L.L.C. and a leader in integrated home-theater solutions, has introduced a new "pay-as-you-go" satellite program designed specifically for the RV market. The program, marketed as "HD for the road less traveled," is the first of its kind and is supported by a customized RV toll-free support line.
Winnebago Industries, Inc., one of the nation's top-selling motor home manufacturers, has named the satellite program "Your HD" and is offering "Your HD" along with the DISH Network Mobile HD receiver on select 2011 Winnebago and Itasca models in anticipation of the high demand this program will create.
The new DISH Network Mobile HD program allows RV owners to pay month-by-month, only when they want to watch satellite TV programming. Subscribers purchase the receivers outright; there are no contracts, no equipment to return and no activation fees. Setup is simple: (1) Purchase the DISH Network Mobile HD receiver, (2) pick a programming package and (3) call the toll-free 1-800-472-1039 to activate. "We're excited to be able to offer a new pay-as-you-go satellite option for the RV industry with DISH Network. People want their entertainment, and we believe it should be on their terms as much as possible. This program really helps to deliver a great experience for people who want 'HD for the road less traveled'," commented Vern Swedin, Pace International. Pace is welcoming OEMs, dealers, and customers to sign up today. Learn more at www.dish4myrv.com or call 1-800-444-PACE

So when is DirecTV going to offer a 'Pay as you go' program?

This sounds appealing. Anyone out there using this service? Please comment.
On a related note... I mostly camp in areas where there are lots of trees. I can usually find a spot where I can see the sky but that "hole" may not be in the right spot to align with a satelite. Am I asking for trouble? I don't mean to hijack the thread so point me toward other threads if they already exist.
Thanks.

We've just got the receiver last week and set everything up last Friday. I've purchased the DishTV Top 250 with HD. It's not cheap. $64.99 per month of use. I believe you can do better price-wise, but you'll have to sign a 1 or 2 year agreement. In this pay-as-you-go program, you can stop/start as you want. However, if I understand the contract correctly, I'll pay for full months. There are no partial months. I've found the service very good so far. I pay the bills online. I do have to call to update my service address (where the satellite antenna is located) so I can receive local stations (useful if we can't pull a local station we want from the regular TV antenna). That, too, has worked well so far for the less-than-a-week that we've had it.
Only issue I've noted so far is that we want to go to Yellowstone and Glacier this year. Looks like there's no DishTV signal available there. Of course in those places I probably shouldn't be wasting my time watching TV!
Hopefully, others will chime in to give you a broader view and opinions.
David

Why would there be no signal in Yellowstone?

Actually I'm glad you asked! It turns out I'm wrong. Sorry! Yellowstone would be fine based on the coverage maps for Dish Network satellite coverage map for satellites 129, 119 and 110 included with the instructions for our Winegard Carryout antenna. As I look at Appendix A the coverage gap looks like it covers western North & South Dakota, Northeast Wyoming and the eastern half of Montana. David

I believe you need to take another look!
I could be wrong but the only thing that you wont get is any LOCAL networks in those areas

Well, Don, I don't fully understand what comes on which satellite, but here's what the Appendix states, "The Carryout antenna will not operate in areas where satellite 129, 119, and 110 are not available." Figure A.1.1 shows no coverage of those areas for satellites 119 and 110. Figure A.1.2 shows no coverage for the northeast for satellite 129. So based on that first statement, I concluded there's no Dish TV there. However, I haven't been there with a satellite TV antenna to even try and see if all that's true or not. Just readin' and figurin' which makes for dangerous thinking! David

I have Dish and 110 and 119 are available over my KVH R4SL anywhere in the USA. 129 for HD programming is predominately for central and western states. For extreme northeastern and southeastern or for the eastern half of the US for that matter, you need to access sat 61.5 for HD programming. This may require a reprogramming of your Winegard Carryout but Winegard tech help will know

David go to this link
SatBeams - Satellite Coverage Maps - Sat Footprint AMC 1 (GE 1) / Directv 10 / Directv 12 / Spaceway 1 (Spaceway F1)
It shows 119w with the Conus transponder coverage
No hole in the coverage on the map !!
It worked fine when I was there a few years ago when I had Dish!!
Ps. using the same link you can go to all the dish sats & check out the footprint
Sorry it didnt fwd as it should have! click on top line to get sat 119 then under that go all the way to right till u see conus transponder
Hope you can figure this out
Don

Thanks!!! Keep in mind this is my first week with this thing, and I that I don't know what I don't know. Just reading an installation pamphlet. Wouldn't be the first time I either misread or had one of these things let me astray! David

Does anyone know if you must use the "Portable" dish that comes with this system? I have a perfectally usable KVH R5SL on my MotorHome and sure don't need another piece of equipment to haul around.
