Dish system loses subscribed channels

I have a Dish Wally reciver connected to a Winegard Pathway X2 for the RV.
We use this system in the RV for weekend trips approximately monthly.
While the system is not being used it is powered off.
We have had this for about 3 months and 2 out of the last 3 times I have powered it up, we have lost all our subscribed channels.
When I call Dish they send a 'hit' signal (their terminology) to the receiver and after 2-3 Wally restarts the subscribed channels are back.

Dish's explanation is that since the receiver is powered down for extended periods and cannot receive regular updates this is expected behavior. Their only suggestion is to remove the Wally and Winegard from the RV (we keep the RV at a remote storage location) and take them to the house where they can stay powered up permanently, Has anyone else run into this?
Also every restart takes around 15 minutes (checking switch, acquiring signal and downloading guide). Is this normal?

This is normal with all Dish receivers. If they are off for an extended period, the require another ďhitĒ. I complain every time I call.

Yep. Every time I let it sit for a few weeks. If I'm using fairly frequently, then it no problem. The wally seems a little better then the 211k we had. Usually a call and they send a prompt and good to go. Had dish since 2012.

Yup. Normal.

Can be a real hassle if you are somewhere with cell phone (call) or internet connectivity (chat). If I knew this was going to be the case I would setup at home and get a hit to update before heading out.

Now retired we travel often and don't have the problem.

They told that if someone takes the unit, it will be of no use to them. Sounded good.

Thanks, sounds like turning it on the day before the trip is the way to go.

What about the restart time? Does 10-15 mins sound normal? I haven't timed it - could be less but sure seems like it takes forever when you are sitting there watching it

About right. Has to check, then find, then down load. Never timed it. Usually start it and finish setting up. By the time its done, so am I.

Hi, Iíve found that 10-20 minutes is about right for a satellite search, reboot ,and guide download. Also, if you have internet, there is a place on the Dish website to initiate reauthorization of the receiver without actually calling Dish.

That's interesting. I specifically asked the rep if there was a way for me to re-authorize the receiver and he said no, I would have to call in.
I just got on to the MyDish website and I see my receivers but I don't see a place to re-authorize (maybe because they are all currently authorized).
Do you happen to have a link?
Thanks!

Iíve been told several times that they were going to add it to their web site once you log-in. However, Iíve never found it.

Log into your Mydish.com account, come down the left column to DISH OUTDOORS and click on it, on the right side of the page about half way down is the RED button marked "Reauthorize Now"

Didnít find it logging into MyDISH account in a browser. I did find it using the MyDISH App on my iPad.

It works with Explorer and Chrome suggest you may want to get a more robust browser.
