Dish TV guide

Okay, maybe this is a stupid question, but we have Dish and are full time, so always in a new place. In the last week, we've gone from Arizona to Texas, so two time changes. Our "address" is Washington. When we got to Texas, I put in the local Zip code, but our guide still shows the time are two hours early. I've re-downloaded the guide, I've unplugged the box and plugged it back in, nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

I'm thinking you are stuck with it. Dish does not change by ZIP code. You have to "notify" them that you have changed your time zone.

Good luck with that.

The only thing entering the ZIP code does is give you the correct information for aiming the dish. It does not change your service address, which determines which local channels appear in your guide.

Simply call DISH and ask them to change your " SERVICE " address. You will probably have to call several times till you get a C/S rep that knows anything about anything but eventually you will get a rep that understands and they will make the change. As long as you don't do it too often they won't give you any static about the change. If they say you have to have DNS service instead just hang up and call back till you get a rep that will make the change.

So even though the dish "communicates" with the satellite, it doesn't know the time where I am? What a pain!

I might be mistaken, but I believe the satellite receivers get the date and time information via the telephone line - which you would not have in your rv.

It knows the time, but it doesn't know the time zone. It doesn't use the ZIP code to determine the time zone. As stated before, the only thing it uses the ZIP code for is the aiming info.

You set the time zone elsewhere in the menus.

I call each time I move and will be in the new location for more than a day or two. I just change my service address and all is well. I haven't had any issues with it and within 10 minutes I have the local stations and correct time and programming.
