Best tripod for an RVer is the TV4RV.com HD Tripod. The legs are length adjustable for getting vertical mast alignment on rough terrain.

What do I need?

I have a Dish Traveler connected to a VIP511. What will I need to put in the Hopper 3 in my RV? I can change my location on the web, using the DISH Outdoors app on the site. Can you do this with the Hopper?

To connect a Winegard Travler to a Hopper 3, you need a DPH42 switch connect like so:

For simplicity, think of it as a "set top box" that works in conjunction with the Hopper so these extra TV's can access all tuners (satellite and if the Hopper has it, the Over The Air adapter tuner), DVR'd shows, etc, either by coax, wired Ethernet, or wireless WiFi Ethernet. A Joey can watch something different than what the main TV (on the Hopper) is watching, or "join" the main TV and watch it simultaneously. Example, you could be watching a show on the main TV, press pause on that hopper, go to the bed room, join that paused show, and resume watching it in the bed room (and then you could turn off the Hopper's show on the main TV remotely from the bed room).

Basically, it is Dish's way of providing "whole house" functionality in a Hopper environment.

Me, I use the Hopper on the main TV and feed the Hopper signal thru standard coax to the bed room Joey that drives that TV which also can slave the outside TV. (Many times I use the outside TV to simply play music from Dish's Sirius channels via the bed room Joey, and DW may be inside watching something else.) In the S&B, the Joey is Ethernet connected and gives me TV in my home office. I have the older Hopper 2 with only three turners and the older simple Joey with no tuners.

Recently purchased a 2009 Tiffin Motorhome with a King-Dome 9704-LP Satellite System. Previous owner took their receiver...wondering what DISH receiver(s) would be compatible. Previous owner had a DISH also. Thanks, Bill

I would suggest getting on the phone with King and discuss what you have and what will work.

I'm about to build a media cabinet in my right slide out 04 Monico Diplomat that includes a Touchstone TV lift 65"TV and 36" fireplace/heater insert. I'm trying to figure out the best way to route the Sat RG6 Dish network cable over to the right slide out. Sat ant dome is on the roof front middle of my rig. Rich Port Richey FL.

New winegard hybrid sk-1000 replacing King tailgater pro

On my 5th wheel I have a King tailgater pro on the roof with two coax connections, one run to the bedroom and the other to the living room/main TV. I want to use my Hopper 3 in the living room and a wireless joey in the bedroom by installing the newer Winegard hybrid sk-1000.

Has anybody used this dish?

Can I do this by using the current coax run to the bed room for the control box and then connect the other to the hopper 3?

Here is a pdf from winegard showing the new dish will work on a hopper 3 without any additional equipment.

The file was showing what works with the Trav'ler not what works with the King Tailgater Pro. Sorry.

The OP said he was going with the newer SK-1000. I wish I knew more about this new Trav'ler to help, but alas I have the old one and old Hopper 2.

Newer SK-1000s can use the DISH Pro Hybrid (DPH) LNBF instead of the standard DISH Pro Plus (DPP) LNBF. This is a boon for Hopper 3 users. When you use the DPH LNBF, you only have to run a single coax to a Hopper 3. A DPP LNBF requires a special switch (DPH42) between the DPP LNBF and a Hopper 3.

Can I use the other coax for the control cable going to the IDU controller box or is the control cable a special cable?

I'll be swapping out the king for the winegard.
