I have the receiver on the way for dishnetwork. I made a stand for an old 18 inch dish I have.
The programming will be the classic gold package. Does anyone know if that uses both the 110 and 119 satellites ? or is it just 119?
I have to figure out if I have to use two lnb's feeding into a sw21 switch or if I'm good to go with one lnb -- I have a couple of old legacy lnb's already so I'm trying to use my existing equipment.

I'm on the Classic Gold 250 package and my dish uses both the 110 and 119 satellites to get all the channels. It's an oval dish with dual LNB's.

I believe the newer multiple LNB dishes have the switch built in. Most of the content is on 119, but there are some channels on 110. There is a site (forgot the link) with info on which channels are on each satellite. Of course, you could probably find a 2 or 3 LNB dish pretty cheap and not have to worry about it.

You will not be able to use a round single LNB dish if you are hoping to also use a 2nd LNB. I shouldn't say "can't" as in theory you can, but the adjustment for the second LNB will change every time you move so it would really be impractical.

All Dish network packages use both 110 and 119 (Save on the east coast where Dish-HDTV uses other birds)

That said the Network shows (If you subscribe to distant network service via All American Direct Communications LLC) are on 119.

Beyond that all I can do is refer you to Lyngsat (Google them) as they list what channels are on what birds

A dish 500 dish from Craig's LIst should set you back about 2 bits or less.

Thank you,
I got a hold of a dp plus lnb from a friend who happened to have a spare one but he had no dish for it. He is not sure if it will work with the 18 inch i had or not. I shall take a look on craigs list for an oval dish for it.
Looking at the list of channels on 119, I might be happy with just those so maybe I can use just one lnb on my smaller dish.

If looking for a used dish antenna, the twin LNB (two "eyes") Dish Pro is the easiest to manually set up quickly. It has a built in switch so you can run one lead out of the LNB to feed a single receiver from both the 110 and 119 sats. Avoid the Dish Pro PLUS unless your receiver requires it. The Plus is different somehow and does not work with the cheap signal meters. My friend has a Plus, and it is a bugger to set up, while my regular Pro is a cinch with my $12 meter.

If you're going to try your two legacy LNBs, an external switch is needed (SW21 for legacy LNBs and SW34 for Dish Pro LNBs) to combine the signals into a single feed to your receiver. To aid in aiming, put some metal foil over the 110 LNB to be sure that the signal you are getting is from the 119 primary aim satellite. And yeah, getting both sats is pretty useful.
