I faxed my RV waver form with my MH registration at 10:00 today and at 4:00 got a call from All American Direct. I gave them my Credit card info paid $85 for 6 months of service and by 4:15 was watching NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox on my TV.

My dishnetwork service is central time zone because of my Livingston, TX address. The Sanfrancisco feed channels are off by 2 hours ( 4 Oclock news at 6o Central) (Live feed). The New York channels are also live feed. 6 O'clock news at 5:00 Central time.

I am ready for the NFL playoffs this weekend.

Here is the link to the form I faxed.

I have had All American Direct service for 4 years and am very happy with it. If you have the receiver turned off for 3 or 4 weeks you may have to call and have your receiver "reauthorized". I just had to do that after 6 weeks in storage.

Do you get ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox from BOTH L.A. & N.Y.? How about local channels?

We love our DNS with DirecTv. We were grandfathered in I think so we get both east and west which makes it a lot easier to schedule recordings of our favorite shows and being able to watch the national news earlier than we normally could.

MaverickBBD,

If you pay dishnetwork for local channels, it is a spot beam and can only be received for 50 -100 miles from home. I don't pay Dishnetwork for local channels because I am full time and not in Texas very often. I have their 250 gold package and pay $64.99 a month for 250 channels. (1/2 of them are music channels.)

Now I pay All american Direct $86 for six months to get Dishnetwork to allow me to get ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox. I got 8 new channels 241-248. 4 are San fransisco and 4 are New york.

I think Dishnetwork was abusing the DNS service and the FCC took it away from them and now make them use a third party to screen users. If you sign an RV waiver form, saying that you can not get local channel service, and you have a MH, you can get DNS.

MGScot4,

I am a longgggg time subscriber to Directv so I have been 'grandfathered' into receiving network feeds from both coasts. My local channels are Seattle stations. When I switched my mailing address with them they automatically switched my locals to Rapid City. The locals are included in my package. They also removed east coast networks. Had to go around with them until they understood I didn't change my service address. Yeah right, honest. Did that to keep both coast's networks. As OP stated it is convenient for watching and scheduling the DVR's. I will once again be able to get the Seattle stations from them when I return to the spot beam area. In the meantime I rely on OTA for locals.

MGscott4, By your response I assume you already had a receiver or did they provide it? We have a KingDome but no receiver. Sorry for the stupid question but is All American direct a Direct or Dish provider?

Yes, I have been a long time subscriber to Dishnetwork with an old Dish 300 receiver. I up graded to a dishnetwork 211k a few months ago. The 211 receiver has 2 inputs instead of just one like my old 300 did. The second input is for the "Over the Air" (OTA) channels from my crank up antenna. The 211 receiver can scan the airways and put the OTA channels right onto the TV guide with the Sateilite channels, so no more switching buttons from the magic box. Right - Wrong. What dishnetwork did not tell me was the fact that I can't use the antenna amplifier when you connect the OTA to the dishnetwork 211 receiver. Well unless I am in the middle of a big city, I don't get many OTA channels with my antenna not amplified even with a wingman on my wineguard antenna.

So I have been using my amplified OTA antenna my old way and switching sources through my magic box. I did not gain anything when I upgraded receivers.

The 211 receiver is a good receiver, Dishnetwork is promoting it for RV's but they need to fix this problem. By the way, if you do hook up the amplfied antenna to the 211 receiver you blow the amplifier fuse. Then you spend and hour trying figure out exactly where the fuse is. (on my MH it is under the hood far right side near the upper right corner of the fuse panel)

So now with DNS service I get NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox , both NY and San fransisco feeds on my satelite channels 241-248. And I can still switch sources and use my amplified crankup antenna and get local ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and more if they are in range from where I am. My history with this is, I can usually only get one or 2 of these channels and it is usually not the ones I want.

Oh sorry about the rant. Yes you need to subscribe to dishnetwork first, then once it is active, you fill out the waiver, and with copy of the MH registration, fax it to All American Direct. They contact Dishnetwork for you and get it activated.

If you want to buy a receiver for Direct TV, they do it different. None of this applies. I am sure you find out how direct TV does it from this forum.

All American Direct provides DNS for Dish Network and does not limit you to just one Coast, unlike DirectTV.

As far as getting both Locals *and* DNS with Dish Network, it can be done IF you use All American Direct for the DNS. The regs say that you can't have both DNS and Locals on the same account at the same time; however, since these are two separate accounts, one can get away with it.

That WAS true, but no longer. Dish Network just recently (sometime last year) regained their ability to provide their customers with DNS. Now, however, it's done on a pay-as-you-go plan:

RV Solutions - DISH Network
