Does anyone use Direct TV for music when traveling?

We have starting using our TV as we travel in lieu of a Sirius radio. Does anyone else?

We carry our Direct TV receiver for use on the road and quite often for music.

We are going to! I hadn't thought about using it while actually on the road but we did use it while in camp.

Thanks!

That will only work if you have a in motion satellite dish, unfortunately I do not. I can only use it when parked.

We will sometimes get books on CD and listen to those.

We will also use an app on the phones - Pandora - and listen to music that way. Free but sometimes it will play a 30 second add every so often unless you want to pay a monthly fee. Not sure what it is as I just use the free version. Thom on the other hand does pay the fee for add free music.
There are several music apps out there for cell phones but be careful, while it does not use that much data it will still use some data to use.

We also carry some music CDs and may listen to those too.

We also use audible.com - used to use cd's but now on the ipad and bluetooth to the vehicles stereo for great 'reads' - really makes the miles go by

Check with your local library - they may have digital downloads available. My library uses Overdrive, and I can download ebooks for reading, or audio books for listening. And I can sign in and download from almost anywhere with wi-fi or cellular data.

Pandora costs ~$3/mo in order not to have ads, plus you get a higher quality digital audio stream and the ability to reject more songs. We think it is a small price to pay to be able to get rid of XM/Sirius for something we find better.

On my motor home Id have to cut a wire under the dash to do that as the same speakers used for the home theater are used for the dash radio.. Or Id need to drop a line-feed down the A pillar.

Used to be two Sat Radio Services, as I recall they merged, One was carried on DISH and the other on Direc birds So what you get with Direc is a Sirius radio.... Just so you know.

What I use on the road is CD's. or MD.. I have hundreds of hours of recordings, some are staright 44.1K sampling rate CD, some are MP3 (I can drive all day with an MP3 disc in the drive) some are Mini Disc which generally vary from 70 minute max (Standard MD) to 7 hours (HI-MD) I have computer files, MP3 Players and of course Pandora and other cell phone apps.. IN short, lots of music opitons.

And with T-mobile.. Music streams do NOT count toward my data use.

Slacker is somewhat like Pandora. You can subscribe to get rid of the commercials. I like Slacker as it allows you to select music by artist, a feature that Pandora does not offer.

Try and live up to your dogs opinion of you.
