Does constantly changing your DTV "service address" work for local channels?

I didn't want to hijack the last thread this was mentioned on but would like to know if someone has a definitive answer. I have heard conflicting information. It seems that some say they simply call DTV wherever they set up in a new location and have their service address changed to the CG and they are able to get local network programing for that location. I've heard others claim it doesn't work.
I now full time and have DNS so it's not for my benefit but I was talking with my neighbor last night and he's stuck in the middle of it so I'd like to know if there's an answer out there somewhere for my own understanding.
Thanks!
Rick

It might work most of the time but no one is going to be able to give you a definitive Yes or No. Who answer the phone will make a big difference. You would also have to ensure that you have a DirecTV Slimline SL5 as the local network programming in different parts of the Country come from different satellites unlike your DNS and SD that all comes from the 101 satellite. To ensure that if DirecTV allowed the change you could receive the programming you would need 99, 101, 103, 110 and 119.

Thanks Bill... that's pretty definitive. I appreciate it and will pass it along to my neighbor.

I believe that there are still a few places left that get their locals off the 72 or 95 also. In that case the SL5 won't help.

To explain Bill's post...
First, you must contact DIRECTV to switch your locals to the area you are currently camping in. This experience can vary depending on the DIRECTV representative you receive. I would suggest if you are not getting the answer you like, hang up and get another rep. Other account notes will effect this as well so doing this too often or not being current on billing could have an impact on your result.
DIRECTV local channels are "spot-beamed" in a radius around a location. If you are within that beam, you can receive those channels. When you switch locations, that spot beam could be coming from a different satellite, and in some parts of the country that beam is coming from a satellite that most mobile satellites do not receive.
If the beam is being broadcast from satellites 99, 103 or 110 you would need a SK-3005 model TRAV'LER or other Slimline dish to receive all 5 satellites to make sure you are covered anywhere in the country.
