Does DVD player work while driving
I have a "new" 2005 Beaver Patriot Thunder w/o in motion satellite. The main TV is over the cockpit area and drops down when needed. My co-pilot was watching a DVD while parked, once I started the engine the sound stayed on but no picture? Is this normal?

Yes. Most cockpit TVs are set up such that the power to them goes off when the engine is running.

The solution is a smaller 12 volt TV that the driver can not see by the way.
The reason the sound stayed on but the picture went black is the sound was via the home theater, Actually all power to the TV went out, There is a law requiring they be set up that way and without discussing the merits of such a law. if you choose to bypass the lockout, you can get ticketed.. I know, cause the trooper had me ask the Sgt for the section of law so he could make the ticket out properly.

So in motion satellite is not a good idea for this configuration?

Not if you want to be legal.

There are work-arounds for this but you will have to search for it yourself. It is quite easy.

It has nothing to do with the in motion satellite.
In most states it is illegal for a tv to be operated anywhere within the vision of the driver. Many coaches have an automatic lockout that will disable the tv whenever the ignition is on.

The key here is the laws for the state you are currently in. Not all states have civil code against televisions in automobiles.
I usually have the kids watch TV in the bedroom while I'm driving as its less distracting.

Our tv is out of he driver's view and not interlocked, but I digress.
Our previous moho has a relay (triggered by the coaches 12v ignition circuit) actually built into the outlet the tv plugged into.
Unscrew the outlet and pull it out for a peek, bet just putting a standard outlet in there will fix er up.
