You can do that with AirTV as well which can be integrated into the Sling TV interface, but someone pointed out that most home ISPs limit upload speed to around 10-12mbps which could really be limiting. Do you have any issues with that?

The reason you don't see Amazon as a cable provider is because they are not a live TV content provider. So if you are not paying for those channels through a provider such as Cox Cable, Direct TV, etc, they are not going to let you view their content via streaming. ESPN, TBS, FS1 etc are like that as well. You will see YouTube TV and Sling on the provider list though, because you are paying to view those channels through streaming.

Also, if I can also access the same streaming service on the road this would be a better situation for us anyway. For those of you who switched from satellite to a streaming service like sling or ATT now, what has been your experience with this?
My last 30 day trip I used ATTNow and was pretty happy but it is too expensive and really didn't provide the sports programming I want. So just finished 7 day free with YouTubeTV and Philo. Those, along with Netflix and Amazon Prime and subscriptions to HBO, SHOWTIME and Starz give the wife and I everything we need...HOWEVER...everyone is different and I can say the saving was not that significant once you add it the required high speed Internet...

I say go for it if you can get the programming. I will say ATTNow actually allowed us to watch our San Diego area network channels even while in North and South Dakota..that was nice, having the local news and all.

So far I think YouTube TV is winning for me. It has all the sports I am interested in and it has all my locals. Plus, So far it is the only streaming service that my LG TVs in the coach have the app for. Otherwise I would need to use the Roku to access.

We just keep our Dish Subscription and use the portable satellite when we can get a clear view. The Dish subscription gives us Dish Anywhere that we can stream using the app on our phone or iPad. In metro areas we have OTA. Dish is $100 a month for 250 channels and Sirius XM that we listen to mostly.

This antenna is as good as it gets for digital over the air reception. The Wingard standard RV antenna is not bad either. Location is everything. https://www.amazon.com/Antenna-Satel...225797&sr=8-19

Because my YouTube TV is connected via cellular I've noticed some interesting effects. All our cellular signals, both AT&T and Verizon come out of Houston. Because of the GPS locator it knows my phone is in the Corpus Christi area so it doesn't have any problem providing local channels for it. So far it hasn't objected to my Rokus either, but it keeps insisting that my laptop is in Houston and tonight it started giving the laptop Houston local channels.

So, at the moment, in the same room the Roku/TV combination is watching Corpus Christi locals but the laptop I'm writing this on is getting Houston channels. It will be interesting to see what happens next. If the Rokus get shifted to Houston I can always cast the signal from the phone over to the Roku so I can get local CC channels.

What do you use for getting local channels when you're too far away from OTA?

I switched to YoutubeTV. Only drawback is that you need good internet access. A lot of RV parks do not have fast enough network.

We use PSV for our main streaming service at home. We use Roku sticks for access on our TVs that don't have built in Roku or Android operating system (not "smart" TVs). We get internet via Comcast and wifi via a Netgear router.

Very timely thread. Today I will be getting the last of equipment needed to finish my TV watching.

I have DirecTV at home bundled with AT&T for $85 a month with free HBO which AT&T now owns, so hard to drop. I chose to watch my DirecTV via the DT app, which includes my local channels (the network feeds) and any recorded shows off the DVR. Because of this I decided to "put my money"into my celluar wifi. Final cost should be around $400.

So with very good WiFi, Firesticks on TVs, mirroring DirecTV app, and good OTA setup ... we should be set for this winter in AZ.

Look at ROKU. You can get rid of all your dishes at home and the RV. Even watch TV while going down the road. It's a game changer!!

Many places we camp have no cell service or wifi. What do you do then? Read a book?
