I installed a Zimwell ZAT 970A D-A TV converter box in my M/H eqipped with a Winegard video distribution unit model VS-0604/6412.
With everything hooked up per instructions the over the air transmissions are excellent, BUT the satellite reception is snowy and has lines thru the images. When I turnoff/on/or unplug the D-a the sat reception remains the same. Hooked the video disribution unit back as it was before the D-A installation and picture was perfect.
Any suggestions on what I should do to correct the problem with sat reception when the D-A is installed?

Hi Ronnie,
I do not know how the instructions told you to install the D to A box. I do know the D to A box needs to be the last appliance before the TV. This means the box should be installed between the distribution box and the TV. When not being used, the box needs to be turned off. My comments are for a box with the "pass through" feature. This feature allows signals from other inputs ( SAT, DVD player, etc) to pass through the unit unaffected.
If your D to A box does not have the pass through feature, it will need to be segregated on a separate line to the TV. There are several ways to do this. An A/B switch is one example.
The D to A box should not be between the distribution box and the off air antenna.

Gary, thanks for your reply (as always). The D-A box does have the pass thru feature. I have installed as you mention after the disribution box using the to main TV cable which is now connected to the D-A box and a new cable from the distribution box also to the D-A box as per directions. I'll google the AB splitter to see how it connects and works.
The company that makes the D-A no longer provides tech support and the number they gave me to call for assistance was no help at all...I told him if I was able to fix the problem I would call him back.LOL
Thanks again
Ronnie

Ronnie, this may sound stupid, but make sure that you accidentally didn't hook it up backwards. May sound stupid, but I've "fixed" several installations by simply reversing the connections on the D-A box.

If what Bob posted is not true, gut feel says the box is bad.

I honestly did not check that connection. But thought that the reception on over the air was so good that I did not even consider it being a problem for Satellite. I'll check it out Wed.
Thanks again
