I have a DTV receiver model HR22 which has two satellite inputs. I have two dishes which are hooked up to my receiver, but only able to utilize the input from one dish. How do I configure my receiver so I can switch from one satellite input to the other?

Hmmm.....that's an interesting question. The 2 inputs on the HR22 DVR receiver, when used with the multiple-LNB Slimline dish, allow the HR22 to display one channel to the TV while recording another channel, to display P-in-P of different channels, etc. I never tried connecting to multiple dishes.

You buy a DEsQ switch from your satellite provider.. You need a 2x2 (Or perhaps a 4x2).. This will take the inputs from both dishes and feed them to the receiver.
With Dishnetwork, they use a "Stacked" system, you would need a 2x2 only if I'm not mistaken but let your digital satellite equipment provider make the final determination.
Direc uses a "Switched" system.. That woudl need 2 cables from each dish to the switch, then one on to the receiver, making it a 4x2 switch. (4 in 2 out)
NOTE you can use a 4x4 switch in that configuration as well (4 in 4 out) just leave the caps on the two out's you don't need.
The dealer can explain how to set it up as well.

Sorry, but what in the world are you trying to accomplish with 2 dishes that you cannot do with one?

Well folks here it is. As I said about the receiver with two inputs, I had thought there was an input for two different dishes. I would use my dish on my roof and the dish on my pole. and get two different signals out. It must have been a senior moment. Thanks for the reply and now I will go back to sleep.

The HR22 is a direct TV receiver,, Now a question: Why do you have two satellite dishes, for DirecTV, if it's SD and you are in an RV everything should be on one satellite, the only packages that need two sats are selected local channel packages and some "Second language" packages. Else it should ll be on 101, If you have an HD PACKAGE< THAT USES # BIRDS (101 and two KA band birds couple degrees either side of 101) and that dish will have dual output, no need to have a 2nd dish.
However.. To answer your question:
Your DirecTV installer can provide you with a Digital Equepment Signal Switch (DEsQ) for a small price (Likely less than 50 bucks) that, following his instructions, will allow your receiver to pick and choose the dish, the LNB on the dish and the polarization of the signal... In short.. everythign.
