Hi all
Does anyone know if I can have a dual tuner in my 2011 Tiffin Open Road. Had Dish Network out to install one and he said he didn't know how to do it and if it was even possible. Ugh! He said didn't know if satellite dish was capable. We ask who would know if we could and he said ask dealer took it to RV dealer and they said they didn't know. Double Ugh! what we want to be able to do is watch 2 different stations on 2 different TVs at same time. Is it possible? If so, if I now buy a dual tuner on amazon.com (cuz I can't stand dealing with these people on the phone) can I install myself? And do I have to call Dish and tell them I have a dual tuner cuz I'm sure they would want more money per month for it. What would be the difference between having a single and dual why is it such a hassle, are they just plug in to our dish on top and the electric outlet? Why do I need a tech to do this job? Thank you in advanced

I don't have satellite tv at the moment but I'm headed that way and will probably choose Dish since I was told they are the only satellite company that has a duel tuner. I'm not sure how it's done but I know it's possible unless there has been a recent change in their policy. Perhaps another member who has Dish will have more detailed info.

I have a dual dish model 722k DVR in my Bounder.Installed nov 2010 by installer. Its a great unit . the dual receiver has HD on only one of the tuners the other is SD.You can record two different programs at same time while watching a recorded one if you like.My antenna is very easy to set up even tho it set for three different sat.I use a tripod at all times. T he cost from dish is very reasonable but there is a two year comitment. If you have a roof top sat antenna it might require a completely different ant(expensive from camping world).

We use a 722 HD DVR, dual tuner, dual outlet receiver. It's a piece of cake to install. Connect the main TV with an HDMI cable. Run a coax from the second output to your switch box so it can feed the bedroom TV. The second output is SD so a coax connection is all you need.
You will need a multiple LNB dish, not a dome. We have the Winegard Trav'ler and have used a tripod mounted Dish 1000 when in the trees.

In order for any receiver to work (at least with DISH) you have to call and activate it. When you activate it, they will know what model receiver it is. Sorry I can't answer your other questions. I replaced my Winegard dome with the Wingegard Travler, it can feed 2 receivers or a dual receiver.

It depends on the antenna.
I will give you the run down.
DOME type antennas are solo LNB. now it may be single (Can only feed one tuner) or DUAL (2 outputs, can feed multiple receivers) and it may be stacked or not (Dish stacks so you only have one coax to a somewhat special splitter device).
The limit here is DOMES can only see ONE satellite at a time, DISH uses 3, So if a conflict on which bird comes up.. Somebody looses.. NOTE all the stations I want are on 119. (Wife likes a 110 or two)
DISH type rooftop antennas.. Come in two basic and several sub types.
1 is the SOLO lnb used by DirecTV
The other is multiple LNB Dishes (The differnece is they cn be skewed or tilted sidewys) with these you get the dish that matches your service.. DirecTV or Dish, HD or Non-HD) and you have no problems at all save for the evil signal eating tree problem.
Now the Tree issue: Put a simple low cost (under 10 bucks) A/B switch in the LNB line (you need one per receiver input) Connect A to the Antenna up Above on the Roof,, B, goes to a Bulkhead connector or a ground Block down Below, from there you can hook up a ground mount (Tripod) and again this antenna will match your service.

Actually the Traveler can feed 2 Dish 622/722 etc dual turner receivers . The Traveler's output is 2 coax lines with only one being used on each receiver (Thru the magic of a Signal Separator on the receivers.)

It depends - on how you set-up the receiver. If you use "DUEL" mode - Receiver 1 is for the local (near-by) TV and is HD output using the HDMI or Componet output (RGB). Tunner 2 is used for the remote TVs (one or more) and is connected via coax in a cable TV mode - therefore is SD.
If you set it up for Single Mode both tuners are used to feed the local tv (just as above) and both tuners will provide HD - you can switch between them by using "SWAP" and/or PIP., and the coax output is still SD but its signal is/are the same as the HD output - ie you get the same picture/program on both.
The net of it all is both tuners are HD but the output port that they are routed to is 1) HD and 2) SD.
BTW if you plug your Off the Air antenna into the back of the HD receiver you will get the offair TV stations thru the Receiver - and they show up in the Guide.

Just a small clarification. You can set different channel numbers for tuner 1 and tuner 2 so TV2 can view either tuner.
