DVD burning software - looking for better

I have the software that comes with computer and recently installed the LG stuff - but still it seems that there "Must" be a better way.

For some reason my video burn does not burn the audio so well, possibly it is my camera too --- but I would like something that is more flexible and easier to use.

Thoughts?

God Bless

I've not used anything but what came with the computer. Takes a bit to burn the dvd's but when done they really come out nice. Have not had any problem with the audio either. Can't really help with any comment on additional hardware that you could get.

Free DVD & CD burning software

There are several free programs for burning media. Go to MajorGeeks.com - Download Freeware and Shareware Computer Utilities. and search for DVD burning. There are several good ones there. Choose the one(s) you like best.

Alcohol 120. One of the best but not free other than the free trial period.

I had some trouble using cheap DVD blanks. Got some good ones and my problems went away.

I've used Roxio for years and haven't had any problems, but you do have to pay for it.

Nero is another one I use. I also have Roxio.

I have purchased DVD Fab 8. This is a great burning tool that will copy as well as burn.

I use Maxell discs and nothing else. They have been the best and most stable for me and will play on anything. Many of the cheaper discs have issues and you don't realize it till you have spent all the time copying only to not have a working disc. This is usually after you don't have what you wanted to copy any more.

If your goal is to transfer video from the camera or many other devices such as a vcr Sony makes an excellent stand alone device that is fast and nearly fool proof. Editing can take hours if you have an hour of video. The rendering process can cause issues as you mention of losing the audio synch. When your computer is rendering you need to turn off everything else that is open if possible and just walk away. I have done video editing for years and have had the issue you speak of. If you have long videos break them up into small 5 to 10 minute sections and then tie those together when done into one movie. Video editing can be very frustrating. I have used Roxio, Nero, and a couple of others. Todays Windows Movie Maker is actually decent and is really easy to make slide shows from stills. Adding music and titles will make the show interesting.

Thank you.

I have been browsing and I think I just may order out the "Roxio" - older computers I have had this one as part of the package, however this laptop (Samsung) does not and the LG I installed does not recognize my camera format (may have to change that too).

I am rather new (a real novice here) on this issue but I was comfortable before with the Roxio.

On the audio side - I download using the PNY camera chip placed in the thumb drive adapter and when I open them up the audio is great. But with I record the result is video good and then audio cuts out after just a few seconds and then at the end of the video the audio takes off and I don't seem to be able to correct it.

Maybe it's me!

God Bless

Bill

I use Imgburn 99% of the time. It's free and fairly easy to use, but you'll learn a bit about it.

Ing burn

The imgburn found at majorgeeks is crap free as far as I know. If there is an option for 'custom install' you should always use it and select only the parts you want. Never let them install toolbars, search applets, or whatever!

You mentioned that you have issues with sound syncing. That's probably not your burning program but rather a format conversion that has to be done before I can be burned to a standard DVD. A different burn program may handle it differently, but you will probably have the same problem.

Without knowing what kind of camera and format your files are in to begin with I think the best suggestion is to try Handbrake or format factory to convert them to whatever works for you. Both are free. Both will occasionally nag you to buy the 'enhanced' version but you don't have to.
