I searched topics for this but found none. I have a Sylvania DVD recorder-player hooked to my rear RCA TV. I switch the signal to either sat or cable at the front switch box, and get the same program on both TVs (which is not a problem.) I think I have to use the rear TV to record anything, because the front TV has a Memorex DVD surround sound unit hooked to it. I can watch any input at the rear TV, including a DVD, but it won't record either the cable or satellite signal. Everything is good, except I would like to be watching a movie up front while it records in the back. It is possible that I have mixed a connection, as it is all by feel on the back of the TV where I can barely get my forearm up through a hole in the shelf. I'm hoping I won't have to pull everything out.... Maybe I'll try to cut the hole larger. Any thoughts? Thanks.

What is the input channel selected on the rear recorder? It must match the channel you select from the Video selector up front. IOW, if you are sending the Satellite receiver, it must be outputting on the same input channel on the recorder. Same with the cable. Many recorders are set to record on the "Line 1 or Line 2" inputs. If you receive the signals from cable and satellite on either channel 3 or 4 on your TV, then you must select that same channel on the recorder.

Oh, I assume you are able to see videos from the rear recorder.

Well... What you need is a good DVR.. I have 3 in my coach

1: Pioneer DVD-recorder... It's on the rear TV but does not see much use

2&3: Replay TV, one front, one rear

The front one replaced the VCR.. SOme day I may link in a VCR so I can play tapes I have. but that will be a while.

The suggestion is move the DVR to the VCR loop. in fact you can put it in series with the VCR.
