I now have 4 HD tv's. Two in the motor home and two in the home place.

All four of these tv's have a scan feature for automatic channel search on both the analog and the digital frequency bands. My Sony takes forever to go through both bands- the others are a little better. I assume that the analog scan feature will then disappear after Feb '09 in new tv's-- True?

I was going to replace my recently installed 26" HD in the front of my rig with a 32" unit-- I finally figured out how to do it without a complete rework of my upper front cabinets. I planned on doing this around the T'giving/Xmas
holiday season.

My question is this -- can I now purchase a Sony without the analog tuner or must I wait until Feb, or so,to find such a unit?

Thanks,

I don't believe analog tuners are going away.

It's my understanding that TVs will continue to have both analog and digital tuners, as there are low powered analog TV stations/signals that will not be converting to digital.

I agree with Dirk. The old tuners won't go away. Some low power stations will still be around, and you need the analog tuner if you're using old VCRs or whatever that use channel 3/4. Also, analog modulators are still common for various kinds of security cameras you might have installed.

OTOH, you should be able to disable the analog tuner and not have to scan for analog stations.
