Finally have satellite TV in our coach

After 10 months in our 2004 MADP, it was time to get satellite TV in our coach. I bought a Dish Wally receiver to supplement our OTA TV reception (PO kept his 211K receiver). But it would not initialize with our roof mounted 2010 vintage Winegard Carryout satellite dome. Called Dish and Winegard and they both said Dish changed their software in 2013 and it is not compatible with the new receivers. The old satellite dome can be switched to work with Directv but I want Dish because of their pay-as-you-go RV package. So, I removed the dome from the roof. Anyone want an old dome that works with Directv? Pick up in Flagstaff.

After research, I got a new Winegard Pathfinder X1 dome. Set it on the roof, but the trees where we are parked prevented it from working. I put it on the ground and connected a cable from the old cable on the roof to the new dome. It works great! When we move next, I will mount it on the roof where the old dome was.

I ordered a OTA dongle for the Wally to integrate the OTA signal into the Dish channel guide. DW can now watch her girlie Housewife shows and I can watch sports so life is good. The luxuries become necessities in our full-time life. :thumb

We had Directv for 18 years and were not unhappy with it. I like owning the receiver and having the ability to integrate OTA and use a hard drive for DVR are both advantages. I also was wondering how long the old dome would last. So far, I like the new system.
