Hooray for me-

My DVD burner on my HP Pavilion gave up on me about a year ago (it's about 2 1/2 years old- with Windows Vista). It would spit out the DVD disc I was burning at about the 60% point with a "failed" comment of some sort. I ruined a bunch of disc's trying.

I tried for this past year to clean the lens with one of those CD disks with a tiny brush on it- No luck!

I got to looking at the DVD/CD tray and I spotted the tiny lens sitting right there in the open tray. I got my Isopropyl Alcohol out and a clean rag and I cleaned the tiny lens- Walla, the little hummer is now burning DVD-R discs like crazy-.

If your having a similiar problem, its worth a try for you.

By the way, the Vista "Windows Media Center" is an awesome and easy way to burn a Slide/Music disc. Here is a great link for the step by step process. Click on the "To create a DVD slide show with music" link.

Yes, I am a big time computer challenged guy-.

I'm in the process of fixing my DVD in my Toshiba Laptop. The tray will not stay closed. I figured it out that there is only ONE little screw that holds the DVD in place. I pulled the DVD burner out and started checking the mechanism. I just about had it fixed and some little springy thingie (think Seajay) is now somewhere in this room. Said the heck with it and ordered a new burner for $27.
