Wed we got a new Ford Edge with SYNC. It does not have the navigation, but some way they gave me something that will give turn by turn directions. It is free for the first three years. Anybody got one and how does it work ? I also not been able to save favorite radio stations. This is the only car we ever bought where we spent a over a hour sitting in it with the saleswoman going over this SYNC and got to make an appointment next week for follow up questions. So far I not been able to find in the owners manual how to save radio stations.

On mine I just hold a number button on the radio for about 5 sec.

I agree with OneRVer . . . just press and hold the number button. We have a 2010 Ford Edge, and the turn by turn navi is a joke. I tried it once when I was trying to find an address and started laughing so hard I almost had to pull over. I suppose if I had called them first and set it up it might have been better, but the darn thing couldn't clearly hear me (which is odd because the blue tooth on that car is one of the best of all our vehicles when talking on the phone), and I was shouting my request . . . not a good thing. I've had cars with navi before that was easier to use, and RARELY used it. We generally use mapquest before leaving on a trip, or even use our cell phones which have an easy to use navigation program. I noticed the Ford website has online advice . . . SYNC | SYNC Owner Support | Ford.com you have to register but then you might get a little more info. Also found a manual at http://www.santamargaritaford.com/img/675734

We got the radio settings. Dianne used voice commands and then the touch screen to set the station. She says it easy after looking it up on the internet. I was still wondering how the turn by turn works, as the car has no GPS. The only way I can think of is through the cell phone. Would this not run up the minutes ?

Watch what you say around that SYNC. I heard a story about a guy driving who got cut off by another driver. He yelled "A$$h@t!" and the satellite radio tuned to Howard Stern.

Yes, sync turn by turn directions will use the cell phone for a data connection to sync travel services.
