Unless you are into religious or political programming or speak foreign languages I don't think there is much on there. I purchased one of the free satellite tv boxes several years ago. I then found that in order to receive anything else you had to do some illegal hacks to the box so I got rid of it.

Always suspect when something is "Free". Got to be a catch somewhere. If you try it let us know what you think.

FTA, free to air, is real but likely of little interest to rvers. Before the latest round of encription upgrades it was possible to get dish and bell with an after market reciever. The service went down frequently and required upgraded bin files to get back on line again, but it did work reasonably well. There are people still using it via a technique called IKS, internet keyed system, that requires the reciever to be connected to the internet, not very practicle for rvers. A check of web sites dedicated to FTA shows that this system seems to be down more than it is up. There are satelites that are not encripted and can be viewed with a FTA reciever but I believe almost all of the programming consists of reruns of very old shows. For now it is better suited for those who want to view foriegn langauge satelites that are also un-encripted. For more info google FTA

I have a Coolsat 5000 I can give you cheap. It will is capable of receiving all (far as I know) non-encrypted Satelite transmissions.. But truth be told that is not much.
There are hackers who can "upgrae" some reeiers (Not the CS-5000) to pirate but, of course, that is illegal

It is free all right and you get what you pay for. Religious, foreign, "as seen on TV" stuff and the shopping channels. Some of the foreign channels are interesting if the speak English as you will hear more US news that you do from here.
