CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Krystal's 243 company-owned restaurants will offer Wi-Fi Internet access at no cost starting Monday, company executives said.
Many of Krystals more than 180 franchise-operated restaurants also will add those services.
"Krystal is committed to providing our customers a place to connect online for free when they are away from their homes and offices," said CEO Fred Exum.
The company-owned restaurants will also accept credit cards for food and beverage purchases.
The "Krystal HotSpots" use a broadband Internet connection that allows up to 32 users at one time.
The company said steps have been taken to block certain types of potentially objectionable material.
Customers can identify participating restaurants by Krystal HotSpot window decals and signs displaying ":-)()" inside.
Krystal, founded in 1932, is the oldest fast-food chain in the South and the second oldest in the United States.
The Chattanooga-based company has restaurants in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
