I have been very happy with my 2610 over the last few years. Bought early, paid a lot, used a lot. No complaints. Love the remote control. Needs a map update and a rebuild. Cheaper to replace. 760 I think is my target. Any thoughts / suggestions?
Time management and ETA's are a big concern over directions most of the time in my day job.
Vacation RV travel directions are more imnportant over time during vacations.

I think you will like the speed that the 760 acquires and keeps satellites but you might miss some of the 2610's features that the Nuvi's do not share. The 2610 can display a lot of extras, like altitude and time of day, that the Nuvi's do not. It does give time and distance to next turn, though. I don't know of any way to plot a route on a computer and load it into a Nuvi either - you have to do all route planning on the device itself. Suggest you find a store with live demo models and play around with it for awhile. Doesn't have to be a 760 - all the Nuvi's are much alike in terms of nav capability.
The portability of the Nuvis is great too - easy to slip into a pocket or take to a friends car or campsite. And the simplified interface makes it a breeze to use - my wife loves it and she wouldn't touch the 2620 we used to have.
I used to have a 2620 and now have a 250W but the software is essentially the same. I also have a GVN 53 mounted in the coach (uses the coach dashboard display). Neither has all the capabilities of the 2600 series.

I use the StreetPilot 2620 and am quite pleased with it - will update the map to 2010 as soon as it is available. Santa brought my friend a nuvi 750, and I have been "playing" with it, teaching him how to use it. It will download routes from DeLorme StreetAtlas, however, in order to do so, one must have an optional data card installed. The 750 has a lot of bells (MP3, etc) that I neither need or want, BUT does not announce street names at turns!
So, although I like the small size and weight of the Nuvi, I wonder what battery replacement will cost, and am quite pleased with all of the extra features of my 2620.

We just picked up a Nuvi 750 at Sam's Club for $198. Check your local store to make sure they have it and what their price is. Looking at the specs on the Garmin web site, I don't see much difference between the 750 and the 760, yet the 760 lists for $100 more than the 750.
So far, we're pleased with our purchase, but we haven't had a chance to use it in the motorhome yet. I like the portability of the Nuvi series, and it's pretty easy to program. The 750 and the 760 will store up to 500 personal waypoints (favorite locations) and up to 10 routes. Some of the other Nuvi models can only plot one route at a time.
When doing research, I do remember at least one negative review for the 760, but I can't remember where I saw it or why it was negative. Do a search yourself and check it out.

For me, it is the loss of the flexibility that keeps me using my 2710 (2720?). I like the ability to setup whatever information I want on the sidebars. This option is gone and very little info is available other then the actual map. I just recently learned that there is no MapSource with Nuvi and this can be a big loss for setting up specific routing vs. whatever you are given.
The 2700 series is the same size as your 2610 but it is much easier to use. I installed 2009 just a few months ago so 2010 should still be 6+ months off.

For the reasons Bill cited, I've stuck with my StreetPilot 2610 (motorcycle) and 2620 (truck). It seems the newer Garmins have sacrificed a number of features in the quest for simplicity and ease of use.
JMHO, of course....

My complaint with the 2720 I use is that it only gives me direction of travel in cardinal points. My old one gave me the current heading in degrees as well as heading to destination in degrees. I suppose knowing I am moving to the NW is ok but I do miss that detailed information.

Well just try to get any information at all that "you define" from the Nuvi! If you didn't care for the info you got from your 2720 you will hang yourself trying to get any user customizable information from a Nuvi.

I agree with Bill - the Nuvi is simplistic and lacks customization features. I love our Nuvi and it is very simple to use, but neither it nor the Garmin GVN 53 have the flexibilty or tailoring possible with the 2600/2700 series Garmins.

I have a 2610 and a Nuvi 205. I keep hoping Garmin will build a unit that is as good and flexible as the 26xx. So far, they haven't. Here are my thoughts...
Nuvi Series:
Don't care about the 3D view. there is lot less items being displayed on the map.
On screen items are not user selectable
small form factor: good
brightness not adjustable nor automatic
cannot define highway or secondary road preference
no remote
Car icon does not change with map scale and is very large
26xx Series
the rest stops shows up on the basemap (5 mile scale) which is really handy as you travel
remote remote remote
auto dimming
hard buttons for route/favorites... do not need to dig into menus
programmable tabs...
not pocketable... but works well in my RV
So until Garmin creates a "road warrior" GPS... I won't be upgrading anytime soon.

Howdy!
I"m also considering a new Garmin GPS. I like the 765T but waiting to see how the new trucker GPS 465T does when it comes out end of May to decide. A good place to look at reviews is gpsmagizine.com.
