Garmin 770 Backup Camp BC40 Alternatives

Has anyone tackled a hack to use a different cam vs the BC40 on a Garmin 770.

I'd like to find out if there are alternatives compatible with the 770's on screen functionality.

They call the BC40 a WIFI cam, but with the Garmin turned on I don't see any other WIFI signals that I don't recognize (using a WIFI Analyzer on my phone).

I guess it's possible they are using a proprietary RF signal, in which case then BC40 is the only option.

Anyone using a BC40, do you like it?

Ron

Ron-

Garmin has a page listing camera compatibility for various GPS models here. According to that list, the RV 770 can accept input only from the Garmin BC-30 wireless camera.

Interestingly, the installation manual for the BC-30 (link here) says it can pair up to four cameras with the GPS main unit. If so, you could add one or more cameras to your existing RV 770 display.

We have an RV 760, which does allow for third-party camera input.

Hmm...a lot of places that sell the BC40 say it pairs with the 770. The 770 asks for the BC40 when you go to pair a cam, they might have updated the software to include it.

Nonetheless, I'd rather pair a better cam if possible.

My only interest is to eliminate a screen, but no big deal if I can't.

I have several Wise cams connected constantly via an unlimited hotspot. I use them in the toad to get different outside views as well as one pointed at the braking system. I use an Android tablet for the display, my thought was to eliminate the tablet.

Just bought a 770 and wonder if you ever found a non-Garmin to work with the RV 770?

Nope, nothing so far. Still on the radar.

I use the BC-30 which works but not as well as my wife's built in camera, but it is better than nothing. It is wireless using a BlueTooth signal.
