We're looking at the new Garmin GPS. Has anyone tried it, and tried using it in both a motorhome and a car?

Warpath has one in his rig. He seems to really like it. I do believe it might be alittle too big for the car though.

Awesome in the RV!

I have used the Streetpilot III, Roadmate 700 and Roadmate 760 and the 7200 really blows them all away when used in a motorhome. The size of the screen in a motorhome is perfect. The 3-D image of the road ahead is super helpful in visually determining where to turn. Real easy to use, the only downside is the voice they used. It sound like a computer and many road names are unrecognizable. But with the big screen the road name is always on the top of the screen and you can always confirm what was said by a quick glance up on the screen.

I put it in my 04 F150 for a test run to work when I first got it and half way there I pulled it off the dash. It is just to big, and takes up to much windshield space. It was really annoying.

What is the best price you have found for the Garmin 7200? I am looking for one to buy now. Best price I have seen is about $1125.00 plus shipping on Ebay.

Well, we broke down and had it shipped to us while we were traveling in Arizona. Used it on the way home to California. We love it, all the good comments are true. We are also using it in our toad. It is too big for the dash board, but in the Honda CRV we drive it fits perfectly on the cupholder below the radio. Has no trouble finding the signal, and works like a charm. The lowest price we found (and we bought) was from Costco at $1199 plus tax and shipping, came to $1221. We felt even if we overpaid a bit we could easily return it to any Costco store, just in case we didn't like it. I don't drive anywhere without it now, and no more arguing over map reading skills! It is amazing!

Just ordered a Garmin 7200 today. Will have it next week. I'm looking forward to using it as it will be a big stepup from the handheld that I have been using.

I just bought and received my 7200 this week. Tried it out in my truck which has a Garmin 2620 Street Pilot in it. The 7200 is a little big for the truck but looks great in the coach. Haven't gone anyplace yet in the coach but leaving Calif in 3 weeks for a 6 month trip around the US so it will get plenty of use. Found it brand new on Ebay for $1099.99 plus shipping and arrived as described and promised. No complaints.

Jim D,

Hate to change the topic, but tell me about your Koni FSD's. How much of a difference did you notice?

I installed the Garmin 7500 last week . So easy to see as your driving. Still need to install the "dead reckoning" cable so it will work in tunnels and tree covered areas. Awesome & easy to use. I like the quick removal too...

I've not gotten lost in a tunnel while driving... :-) and it would have to be really really really dense woods for the gps not to get a signal...I may have lost a signal in the woods before, but I am usually stopped when that happens and dead reckoning ain't gonna help then. Just my 2cents worth (about .0069 gal of gas). I wouldn't be in a hurry to install that cable...

The only place we've lost any signal was on the 4rd floor of a covered parking garage. This unit is amazing. It doesn't always direct you in the same route you'd take, in neighborhoods you know, but it sure beats tiny map print in unfamiliar places, and works like a charm. Don't know how we ever went without!

Who needs a GPS anyway ? There are plenty of spots that trees will block the signal if you enjoy the woods. I don't have an outside antenna on the unit & it sits well inside window. If you like to download your trips and save them it is a nice feature to not have empty spots in your record. I do apologize if it has offended you that my Wife purchased the upgrade unit for my Birthday present..
