When doing a Goggle search on Firefox when I click on results I get redirected to other sites with links to the search phrase. Tried deleting cache and cookies, ran ad-aware. Still happening! Suggestions please.

Ouch - sounds like you have some beastie on your machine.
I would download this Malwarebytes and run it. Malware bytes is a free download.

Alternatively, you could shut down yer machine and go fishing

We had a bug like that back about 2 months ago. We switched from Explorer to Foxfire. I did a search on my Google and it was working fine.....So running a malware program should help...

Mike & Peggy,
Sounds like you have been "hi-jacked" by malware. It is unfortunate that no one piece of software can get all of the bad stuff off the computer. You can use the program suggested and I'd also download and run SPYBOT Search & Destroy.

Microsoft Defender

Keep trying until you find one that cleans it up.

Good luck.

There is also, PC Tools

If you are using Windows, try doing a system restore. There is a version on XP, Vista and 7. I don't need it often, so I usually go to Help, and then search for System Restore. That should get you to the appropriate instructions for your system.

When that happened to us back two months ago, besides switching over to the Foxfire brouser we ran "A-Squared" & "SuperAntiSpyware" (both free additions). So far, so good. A computer techy from our church came over. He said the biggest issue was running Explorer. He said the root of most bugs are by users using Internet Explorer. We had another bug before where any use of Google would re-direct you to a Dell site. It became a pain in the A _ _.

Thanks, for the thoughts. Apparently this bug prevents you from doing a System Restore, tried 3 times no luck.

Hondo, which operating system are you using? Have you tried system restore from a "Safe-mode" startup?

Mike & Peggy,
Go to the "run" comman menu and type in "msconfig" without the quotes.
Look in the tab that has all of the start-up programs. There will be a zillion of them.
Look for anything out of the usual. If you see a program that you don't think should be there, Google it.

You may want to try: Internet Explorer redirects me when I search with google - TechSpot OpenBoards

Also look at:
http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view...9945&forumId=1

There have been a lot of discussions on this subject, all over the internet.

I have good luck with finding answers to my computer questions here: Computer Hope's free computer help .
I embarked on a campaign about a year ago to make my computers "google-free". IMO, Google is an insidious infringement into my computer, with many things to slow it down, ie: track internet movements, etc. I downloaded the Firefox add-on "no-script", which allows me to choose what Google or any other company attempts to put on my computer, adds, re-directs, etc.It is not an end-all, but really does help alleviate my frustration with this problem.

Janet get's the prize for the only correct answer. Had this on FF about 2 months ago. Flushing the cache, Spybot, Spyware Blaster, and several others I have had no effect. The only one that touches this one is Malwarebytes.

As I recall there is a "Multi-Search" feature on Firefox (it is an add-on) Have you installed it?

And what's to stop Google from re-submitting to say Yahoo and displaying their results too?

Dogpile used to work that way

A redirect is a redirect, Google doesn't operate that way nor are there add-on's to cause this behavior. Just Google Firefox redirects and you will see pages on this.
