Any recommendations for a new hard wired surge protector?

The Progressive Industries EMS series are the best protection plus a great warranty.

X2, I installed the 50 amp hard wired surge protector and opted to also install a 2nd remote display in the coach so I always can see what voltage and amps I am using per leg.

I have had both a SurgeGuard and a Progressive. Both will work quite well, but I prefer the PI HW50C with the remote display as it can be placed where it's easily seen when connecting to power. It has saved us three times from underpowered or mis-wired pedestals.

Another vote for Progressive Industries! Get the EMS series. They protect you against any kind of electrical problem, not just surges, and have a lifetime warranty!

Hard wired or portable, you can't go wrong with EMS.

I'm also in the Progressive Industries camp. I installed a model EMS-HW50C in my electrical bay. It was very easy to do. It has warned me and protected me from low voltages in several parks.

Progressive Industries sure has a bunch of camp followers, probably a good reason for that.

Popularity? Lots of people love McDonalds. That doesn't make it good food.

If you have a cord reel be sure to place it AFTER the reel. When the reel goes bad, if it loses a hot wire not a big deal, half the coach doesn't work. If the reel loses neutral then the whole coach is subject to damage. Buy a unit that protects from open neutral.
