I have a Hawking 300 N range extender and I cannot program. When searching for wireless it finds none, most of the time. I have four wireless according to my laptop. I do a search over and over and it finds none. I have made calls to Hawking before but have not received any help from them. I was able to program at one time but rarely from the wireless in my home now and if it does I am only able to use it a few hours before it drops off again.

I have been using mine for 2 years (about) and love it. I was in a park in MD (Hagerstown Jellystone) where the host told me I couldn't receive Wifi. I plugged it in and, voila, great signal. She called her husband over and neither would believe what they were seeing.
They said I was the first to get a signal in that section of the park.

My Hawking does not pickup any wireless signals unless I plug it into the wireless router in my house. I did use it camping several times in the past. I emailed Hawking about my problem twice and get no reply. I called them and can hardly understand their English, but the last call she told me to hold the reset button down for 30 sec. and then pull the power plug for 30 sec and it will work. It don't work.

I've had one for about 3 years now. I got it to work ONCE. I gave up and now tether my laptop to my smartphone. Works great as long as there is cell phone service in the area.

I called Hawking again yesterday and they now claim the problem is with my wireless router. The only thing I can think that would cause the problem is I am using a secure network. Thw wireless router works great until I start the Hawking.

I have one installed in our coach and I have connected an external antenna, mounted on top of the bat wing running RG 400 from the batwing to the Hawking. Works awesome! Before the mod, it worked very good just on it's own.
What is your firmware version? Did you check the Hawking website to verify that you have the current version? I can check to see what our version is tomorrow and let you know.
When you are trying to program the unit do you have an ethernet cable running from the Hawking to your computer?
Sometimes ours will program wirelessly most of the time it complains.

The Hawking is down in the garage now, so I will have to see what version it is tomorrow. I do have a cat 5 cable connected from the Hawking to the computer. It goes like it should until to where it is looking for wireless and it finds none. My laptop shows three wireless networks. I am only about 20 feet from the one in the house. If I take the cat 5 cable and go from the computer to the port on the wireless router it will work for few hours before taking the DSL down. I then have to reset the DSL and unplug the wireless router To get the DSL. When I do the the Hawking looses it's program and I have to do it over again.

Your symptoms sound like something is oscillating.
If you go to metageek.net you can download their free program called inssider. By running this program you will be able to watch what is going on when the Hawking starts to act up.
My guess at this point is that the Hawking is starting to talk to itself and when it does that it starts effecting your network.
My firmware version is 7416apn_1.50.bin I just checked their web site and that is the most current version. Good luck!

I have a Hawking HWDN2 and has worked fine for over (2) years. I have a laptop PC and here is what I do in my coach.
1. Go to start and click on control panel
2. Click on Network and Internet Connections
3. Click on Network Connections
4. DISABLE wireless by RIGHT clicking on wireless icon and then left click on DISABLE
5. Plug in Hawking to computer USB port.
6. Click on Hawking icon on start menu or desktop shortcut
7. Click on Rescan
8. Available wireless networks MAY or MAY NOT show up.
9. Like satellite dishes, the Hawking is direction sensitive.
10. I have pointed and got nothing. Moved the dish 5-10 degrees left or right and picked up 1-3 "unprotected" wi-fi signals.
11. Click on the STRONGEST signal you find that DOES NOT have a lock(looks like a key) in the list of wireless signals
12. I have picked up signals 1/8-1/4 miles away.
