I'm going to make a minor modification so as to be able to receive a Directv signal in my new travel trailer. I will be using one of my existing HD receivers from my home, even though my TT doesn't have a HD TV.

My question is this: Can I just purchase a 2-LNB dish so I can at least get the standard definition channels? Will my existing receiver work with a 2-LNB instead of the five LNB dish it now uses?

You will just need the regular 1 LNB dish (its called a dual LNB because it has 2 outputs) to receive the standard DTV programming.
Most likely you will need to re-run the setup routine in the HD receiver to select the Round Dish option (which means 1 LNB) but otherwise it should work just fine.
One other concern is the output available from your HD receiver to the TV(s). If you are trying to get a signal to a remote TV the receiver may not have a coax output as a standard receiver would that you could run to a Video Control Center. If you need to do this as well you can go to Radio Shack and get an RCA to RF converter and use the Yellow, Red, White outputs to feed this box and then the coax to connect to your VCC.
