I am about to put Direct in my stick house and in the RV. They are running a special that includes 4 receivers. I do not have any HD Tv's in the house or in the RV. Does the HD Receivers they have work on SD Tv's. That way when I upgrade the TV's I would already have the HD Recievers. Does the HD Reciever accept coax cable connectors? I know they have SD recievers I can use if needed.....glen..... fleetwood expedition 38N 2005

Hit send by mistake ,.,.
On the SD TVs they are connected to the receivers by composite cables. Check the back of your TVs and if they have composite connections your good to go.
In the RV we have one HD and one SD. What makes the RV interesting is that we have 2 dishes, one Slimline HD and a roof mounted KVH in motion.
Hope this is helpful.

I don't know about the latest HD receivers, but on the older ones, they did not come with coax output. If you coach has multiple tv's all connected with coax make sure that the receiver supports coax. My HD receiver only has HDMI or composite, neither of which is very good for long runs or splitters. HDMI is just ridiculously expensive.

Direct is going to charge you for the HD service. Why opt for HD with no HD TV's

Because it will cost you a bunch more to upgrade to the HD receivers when you do get HD The additional cost to the subscription is $10 a month. You might be able to get the receiver but not the service in anticipation.

Watch out for the technology change, the new DirecTv Recievers are SWM.
They can be setup to use Slimline 5 lnb dishes, but come set up for SWM. Most have all outputs except for RF. HDMI, Component, Composite.

Which new receivers are SWM only? Both of mine can be set all combos, including a round 18" SD only.
