I have mentioned my delima in another thread but it was mixed in with others things such as satelitte. Decision on satelitte is made to go with Winegard Trav'ler 1000 for my DISH receiver (from home), a VIP211K. Televisions will be existing 42" LG LED in front of couch (2006 GS G7 41'), rear bedroom television will be 32" LG LED either 720/60 or 1080/120 (now discontinued and I know not why). Wife loves good picture quality of HD so I want her happy, this whole MH thing is a pretty big adventure for her. Here the new delima I am preparing for, you guys with electronic, especially televison, please voice advice:

The DISH receiver I have that I will put in MH for now is a VIP 211K, maybe something like a VIP722k DVR or better latter. This HD 211k receiver, which will go in cabinet that is center of MH, only carries one HDMI out plug and one common cable out. There are several scenerios that may be presented to me as dealership works on installation.
1. If they can install HDMI cables to front and rear then I will need a HDMI splitter (because only one HDMI output on reciever). Are these splitters good devices or do they take from HD reception of both TVs linked?
2. Or, l may be told that they can not get HDMI cable to rear TV so then I can go to wireless HD to rear through transmitter connected to receiver in HDMI output plug. The front TV HDMI cable will plug to HDMI output plug in wireless transmitter. Do you believe this to be a good idea in this situation or should I just take HDMI cable from receiver to front TV and plug couch's existing 2006 vintage cable from rear in regular coxial output? Considering rear TV to be a 32" LG LED, would the existing cable carry an HD signal that will be very noticably different from a true HDMI type cable? Should I just go with what's there and hope for best, forgetting the wireless setup?
3. Or, the worst scenerio is they can not get HDMI cables to either TV then I have no other choice but to use wireless on front and existing cable to rear or existing cables to both which might not yield to great of reception to larger 42" front LG LED. And a waste of the fine Trav'ler satelitte's capabilities.

The forum is here is becoming a great tool for me while I make decisions to get newly purchased MH ready for its first big trip.

Thank you all.

Bill

I would suggest if #3 Is the option- that you find another installer!
Never have used #2 wireless -so can not comment- coax cable = poor picture not in hd
#1 will have the best picture on both TV's

Don, have you used or know someone who has used the HDMI splitter? No loss of signal in the split?

buck454 -

IMO, wireless is the way to go. Coax is strictly for SD. From what I hear, long runs of HDMI cable will also cause losses creating noise. And getting the HDMI cable to the rear could be a pain.

What wireless system are you considering? You may be able to get one transmitter and two wireless receivers - one for each TV.

Don,thanks, may have to use one.

Paz, there are two that I know of, Brite View is the one the previous owner of MH used, ( The Air SyncHD | Wireless HDMI | Wireless HDMI Transmitter ) , the other is
http://avior.iogear.com/product/GWAV8141K/ and much more expensive but perhaps the only one that allows more plugins (DVD, etc) and a chance of two receivers.

I hear yeas and naws on running lengths of HDMI cable. Since DISH receiver is mid ship it is going to take 30 foot either direction. Hopefully I'll learn more early next week as to what the dealers installers are finding. At least I have much of the expense in the dealers hands even if we have to go wireless. I realize there is always the hole in the roof choice but I hate to think of holes in the fiberglass roof.

Let me suggest a #4 option and this is what I do.

Purchase a second HD satellite receiver at $5 a month and install it in the bedroom. Then utilize your existing coax to the bedroom to run the satellite feed to the bedroom. Your roof sat dish will have a dual outlet LNB.

With this option either TV can view HD programming independently of the other.

Tom, good idea with the option #4. And, we can have separate programing going at same time.

Thanks.

I'm using the Brite View for our rear TV. Our receiver is up front, so we have a longer distance to the rear TV. If the bedroom door is closed, sometimes the reception will be degraded or may drop out all together. The reception seems to be best in direct line of vision. You will have a shorter distance, but you may want to keep that in mind when placing your transmitter and receiver if you go that way.

It will be interesting to hear what the installers recommend.

Paz, not good, hearing I may need direct line of vision path. In this particular floorplan components such as receiver are housed in a midship wall, behind that is shower then a bedroom wall, far from a direct path from transmitter to bedroom wireless receiver. May have to go with ventage cable and hope for best.

Ours isn't exactly a direct line of sight. Both the receiver and transmitter are out in the open, but the receiver is offset behind the corner of the bathroom wall. Like I said, however, closing the bedroom door sometimes causes a loss of signal.

Since your run of HDMI cable will only be 30', that may be the way to go. If the installer thinks that's too far, I think they make signal boosters for long runs of HDMI.
