Do you have a remote IR sensor in the bedroom that goes to the Directv receiver or the front tv? If so it is possible you are actually shutting off the reciever and/or the front TV.....

Sounds like the remote is an RF model. (radio freq works through walls)

i'm using an rf direct remote only for the dvr/reciever. i use seperate remotes for rear and front tv's. i never had the issue when connected using rg6 coax. i guess after talking to the splitter tech people that there is a lot of communication going on back and forth through the hdmi cables that posibly can cause some weird issues. after posting this i did get on some hdmi tech forums and found that i'm not the only one one that has had issues. guess i need to keep digging thanks! jim

I doubt that the remote codes are being sent over the HDMI cable. Something else is going on.

1. Are both TV's the same model?

2. Are the TV remotes interchangeable? That is will work on both TV's?

3. Are the TV remotes RF or infrared?

4. What is the behavior if you isolate the rear TV room, by closing the door? Will turning off the rear TV with the remote (door closed) still turn off the front TV?

Del, 1st off i found my problem, it was a bad hdmi cable i purchased online. i ran 2 hdmi 40 ft cables from the front overhead curbside cabinet down the a pillar out through the the front, down to the frame rail alongside the genset. i then fished the cables back just passed the fuel tank. at that point there is a 1 1/2 inch angle that runs to the lp tank. at that point i was able to bring the cables up to where my basement tv is located wich is also under the fridge. i plugged the 1 cable into the basement tv an continued up through the floor alongside the fridge. at that point i used a sewell inline female amplifier to connect another 30 ft hdmi cable and followed my plumbing chase to the washer area at the rear of coach. i then went up behind my breaker panel and forward to the next cabinet where my bed tv is. finished!!!!! everything is working great. i need to add that before i started i did wrap the first 2 cables with that ribbed plastic cover and then wraped that harness completely with elec. tape before fishing to the rear. sorry this was so lengthy but it tells the whole story jim
