Last night IE stopped working. I put in a web address & it just says connecting but never does.
Opera & Safari browsers work fine.
Any ideas what happened to IE or how to get it working again.

Mike

Are you connecting to the internet via a wireless network? If so, I would suspect a problem with the network before IE. Refresh your network list, disconnect, and then reconnect to see if that helps.

If you are connecting to your modem via a cable, check all the cable connections.

Good luck and keep us posted.

BTW, many people prefer Mozilla Firefox to IE. IMO, it is faster and has fewer security problems. Once you get back on the internet, you may want to consider downloading Mozilla Firefox. It's free.

Go into |Tools|Internet Options and find the place to delete Cookies and Files. You will have to re-enter usernames/passwords again but that is a good idea anyway.

You will be amazed at how many files you have stored.

This happens to me once in awhile. I'll be working fine and out of the clear blue sky, IE stops. It just spins and spins, getting no where. I usually exit IE, drop my internet connection (I use wireless exclusively), reconnect and start over. PITA but it generally works for me.

Last week I tired of dealing with the issues of IE7, and the requisite add-ons. I downloaded FireFox and have been happily problem-free ever since. One example is spell-check, IE does have a spell-check-as part of IE7pro only. All the additional stuff in IE7pro only complicates what should be a user-friendly program. FireFox has spell-check built-in. Now IE is in the same place as Netscape, seldom used.

I too ditched IE and moved to Firefox to get away from the ever- present script errors. Couldn't be happier.
