I was trying to download some new POI's from POI Factory and it wiped out my existing POI's. They had a sub-directory under POI's for Love's, Flying J's, etc. Now all that is there are the specific Wal-mart locations with no directory. What can I do?

I am not sure what software tool you were using, but whatever happened the directory content may be corrupted and you may have to reset or reinstall the factory software.

I suggest you visit the Garmin website and look into their FAQ's about installing POI's. They do provide some good step by step info on many issues.

As another suggestion, call their live tech support. They are really very helpful.

I assume you used Garmin's POI LOADER. There is a dialog box that pops up during the load of new POI's to remove existing POI's (I forget how the dialog box is worded). You probably, and inadvertently, selected that option. Go to the POI Factory's forum section. There are some pretty knowledgeable folks there. See what they say.

I was under the impression you ALWAYS overwrote earlier data every time you upload more POI's. Didn't know there was an option not to do so. I keep a master POI list on my computer so I can edit and move files around before dumping them into the Garmin.
