Hotspot thieves beware
My wife could logon to my hotspot, called support, turns out two thieves were logged in and I have a limit of two devices set.
Turns out the password that I was looking at was a default that any thieve can use.
Re-set password they are locked out.

Always make long password to because there is software that can crack short ones. Caps numbers etc. 👍

Long and complicated, make it harder to compromise your hot spot. I also change my password about every six months.

I'm unlimited also in the US, but not in Canada.

But now a days you need to read what unlimited means it's kind like what free means . It's American capitalism at its finest .
lol it's always buyer beware . It's just moved in to the fine print . Where 50 year olds need have good glasses. Learning still here.
lol

I install a unique password and make sure to delete the OEM passwords
ALSO, I only allow authorized registered users on my wifi. i.e. Every device has a MAC address, I set my router to only allow these MAC address to connect to my wifi.
Its a pain when I have company and they want to use my wifi, as they cannot get in until I authorize their MAC address.
I used to work for the Government so I know how easy it is to get into people networks. I'm paranoid about security, and have NEVER had a breach.

Log on to my private network and game on. Your confidential data becomes MY data, no longer confidential. Go Ahead Make My Day.
It is interesting what people use as passwords
Always always always change default passwords.

Yep ... MAC address filtering goes a long way towards ensuring only those devices you want to allow to connect get on. It does complicate managing access a little bit - BUT it certainly ups the secure factor a whole heap!

I'm going to turn off the Mobleys wifi - I have a full blown router tethered to it so now I have a little more security.

MAC filtering is one of the least effective security measures since anyone who has anywhere near the capabilities to crack your password can trivially spoof a MAC address. It usually causes more problems for the legitimate users than any attacker so not really worth the effort.
The best (really only effective) security measure is WPA2/AES and a random-ish password of 10-12 characters or more. That is pretty difficult to overcome and you generally don't need anything more to secure access to your WAP. And of course obviously change any default factory passwords immediately.

I have been using KeePass Password Safe for about 3 years, and use it to generate a lengthy secure password for everything that needs a password, and each one is different. When it generates one, you never even see it (unless you go into edit mode to look at it). The database is encrypted, and accessed only after you enter a master key password/phrase.
The database can be kept on your computer, or a thumb drive, which allows you to take it with you to use it on any computer. It is secure, encrypted, and not stored on "the cloud".

that's funny... My WiFi SSID is FBI Van 3. To my knowledge, I've not had any attempts to log in to my network.
