How Long Till a KA Band Dome?

Any guesses? Never say never, it will happen. I know the manufacturers say they're working on it, but that it may be a ways out still. But you know they're going to have to figure it out, or the dome will go the way of the Dodo. Anyway, just food for thought and discussion, how long will it be.

I spoke with both King Dome and KVH reps at the QZ show and neither indicated that anything was even in the works.
It's not just a problem of creating a KA band dome, it's the problem of creating a dome that will pick up both KU and KA.
I suspect that you are correct, it's coming but the folks who should be pushing the "coming soon" message are selling MotoSAT antennas along with their domes.

Unless you need to watch television while moving you would be better off with an automatic open dish.

I should clarify; I am not in the market or looking, just curious if anyone had any knowledge or guesses as to how long it might be, or if anyone had any actual knowledge of any of the manufacturer's current status/progress toward that end. We have a Kingdome and are content with our setup for the foreseeable future, but if a KA/KU Dome ever does come out, we probably will upgrade.
