Is there as easy way to make sure that there is a good cable signal at the campground post? It seems quite common to not have a signal or a poor signal at the post. It is easy to waste a lot of time determining that the problem is with the incoming signal and not that I have forgotten how to push the right buttons in the coach. Is there a tester that could be used?

This looks cheaper than a tester and might come in handy at other times.

Amazon.com: Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV: Electronics

I'm sure that there are other models out there (might even find a cheap used one on eBay?) I just searched for one that had a cable connection AND digital receiver.

Short of calling the "cable guy" or buying the expensive tester they use, the only way to check for good signal is to hook up a portable tv directly at the connection.

I have a couple of portable TV's (5") so I can check for problems. They are useful to see if the signal is good at the post. they are also the very best when it comes to pointing a Sat TV antenna... I just hook 'em to the "ExternaL TV" jack in one of my bays, select SAT for TV-3 (External) and select antenna pointing on the Sat Receiver... Then instead of a cheap meter that will peak on the WRONG bird.. I have the receiver's own display..

And receivers made by Echostar (DISH Network)... It just flat don't get any better than their antenna pointing software.
