We recently purchased a new to us motorhome. It has a small black box with the name Internet in Motion on it and attached to it is a Netgear box. I am assuming that this is some sort of wifi. Does anyone out there know what this unit is?

Back when air cards first came out a company marked a very expensive product called "Internet-in-motion" it used one of two air cards (Sprint or Verizon as I recall) and looked, to your netgear router, like a cable modem.

There was a half price knock off marketed by Scott.. Who's professional ID I can't recall just now (He was a satellite internet marketer, Scott is something of a conflict for me.. I know a lot of folks who look a lot like him, Same size, shape, build, general facial features, enough so that in a line up I'd mistake any of them for the other... With one exception they are all Jerks.. Scott is a very nice guy, not at all a jerk. He's the exception. But back to topic.

He had basically the same product, for half the price.

And today a simple Cradlepoint router does the same job

You will need to id the air card that is stuck into the Internet-in-Motion or if the PO took it with him figure out which card that box is set up for,,,, then you can get internet most anywhere, most any time, even while your partner is driving.

Thank you for your reply. I think that I will probably remove it and go with the Cradlepoint product. Can the roof antennas be used in any way?

It's an internet system, like an air card from the cellular suppliers. It converts the cellular signal to wifi, so you can use it anywhere in or around your coach.

If you have it, use it. It actually works better than an air card with a wireless router. The monthly charges should be the same as an air card.

These systems are superior to an air card/wireless router system, as they have 2 external antennas and the transmitter (I think) is boosted over an air card.

Try to find the paperwork on the system as they have to be activated thru the maufacturer. If you cannot, contact Winegard, as they sell the same system.

If you were buying from scratch, they are expensive (around $1K), and there are less expensive solutions on the market to purchase.

If you want to remove it, send it to me, I will pay shipping, and I'll install it in my coach.
